Savvy mum reveals Asda rewards trick to get school uniforms for just £1.61 – how you can too | The Sun
A MUM has revealed how she bagged new school uniforms for her kids for less than £2 – and you can do it too.
The Asda Rewards app lets customers build up points when shopping which can be used to get money off future purchases.
It's similar to the Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar Card and ideal if you're looking to boost your bank account.
And one savvy saver revealed how she managed to get hold of new school uniforms for her children by using the loyalty scheme.
She explained on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook Group: "I saved £45 in my Asda cashpot, they are doing a back to school booster at the moment.
"Converted my cash pot into vouchers and got £60 to spend on school uniform!

How does the Asda Rewards scheme work?
Asda Rewards works like the Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar Card in that customers can earn points when shopping.
You sign up by downloading the mobile phone app on the Apple Store or Google Play.
Under the scheme, shoppers gain "pounds" when buying "star" products or completing "missions" such as shopping a certain amount of times or buying a specific quantity of products.
All the pounds you build up go into a "cashpot" which you can then convert into vouchers worth up to £100.
Previously, shoppers had just one month from creating a voucher to spend it, but this has now been extended to three months.
You do have six months to transfer your cashpot into vouchers though.
You can redeem the vouchers in-store or online, but the process is different.
You redeem a voucher in-store by going on the app, clicking on the "wallet" tab and then the "scan voucher" button.
If it's online, you have to go to the spend section of the app, and then select the amount you want to use up from your cashpot.
You'll then get a digital voucher which is automatically applied.
It's worth bearing in mind, once you have converted your cashpot into vouchers, they can't be converted back.
While you shouldn't shop at Asda only for the cashpots and vouchers, it's an easy way to save cash if you're already a regular shopper.
What other loyalty schemes are there?
The list of retailers that have loyalty schemes is pretty extensive, including Sainsbury's, Tesco, Boots and Lidl. Below are just a few.
Tesco
The Tesco Clubcard app is used by millions of customers and lets them earn points as they shop.
These points can then be turned into vouchers to get money off their next shop or at one of Tesco's partners.
For every £1 spent in-store and online you get one point, provided you've scanned your card or app.
You also get one point for every two litres of fuel bought.
One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, the minimum amount you need to request a voucher.
As it stands, vouchers are worth face value at Tesco or you can triple their worth by spending them at a Clubcard partner.
The list of partners includes Thorpe Park, Pizza Express and English Heritage.
That means a voucher worth £1.50 in Tesco is worth £4.50 in Pizza Express.
But this will change from June 16, when they'll only be worth double the face value.
Customers with a Clubcard can also get discounted prices on everyday goods too.
Sainsbury's Nectar Card
Sainsbury's customers can earn points via the Nectar Card when spending money at its supermarkets, petrol stations and partner retailers including eBay and Dulux Decorator Centres.
One Nectar point is worth £1 or a litre of fuel.
You collect two points for each £1 you spend at most of Nectar's online partner stores.
One Nectar Card point is worth 0.5p, so you have to get 200 Nectar points to get £1.
Once you have enough points you can turn them into vouchers to buy your next food shop at Sainsbury's.
You can also use the points to bag plane tickets through Expedia, train tickets from Eurostar or cinema tickets for Vue cinemas too.
Lidl Plus
Lidl launched a loyalty app in September 2020, which shoppers can use to get discounts on groceries, Sky bills and even cinema tickets.
You just have to scan your card as you shop in store which sees you earn points.
Once you’ve earned a certain amount of points, Lidl will give you money off your shopping.
You can get a free in-store bakery item when you spend £50 in a month.
You'll get a £2 coupon when you spend £100 in store a month, or a £10 coupon when you spend £200 in store a month.
