Singleton rejected by man because she ate a whole salad on first date
Singleton, 23, is left shocked after man rejected her for being ‘unladylike and greedy’ because she ate a whole SALAD on their first date – and he fears she’ll ‘soon be overweight’
- Diamond Jackson, 23, from Dinwiddie, Virginia, met man on a dating app
- On date at restaurant she ordered side portion of grilled chicken Caesar salad
- Afterwards he said they’re incompatible and fears she’s be ‘overweight in future’
- Facebook commenters were outraged and said he deserves to be alone
A singleton was stunned when a man branded her ‘unladylike’ for eating a full salad on their first date – because he wants a woman who ‘knows when to stop eating’.
Diamond Jackson, 23, from Dinwiddie, Virginia, had been chatting to a man on an online dating site for a week before he asked her out on a date.
They enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant and Diamond thought the date had gone well when they said goodbyes with promises of seeing each other again.
So Diamond was stunned when her potential suitor texted later that night saying he didn’t think they are ‘compatible’ because of her eating habits.

Mentioning his own strict lifestyle of meal prep and daily gym sessions, the man branded Diamond ‘greedy’ for eating her entire meal on the date – despite it only being a side portion of grilled chicken Caesar salad.
After her date’s unexpected confession that her appetite made him worried that she would be ‘overweight in the near future’, Diamond swiftly blocked his number.
The nursing assistant is now using her bad experience to urge other singletons to not ignore ‘red flags’ like this early on when dating.
Diamond said: ‘I met him online on a dating app and we started talking and then he got my number and we started texting.

‘We had been messaging for about a week before we met up.
‘The first impression was pretty good, we had good conversion on the date and our conversation through text message prior was pretty good as well.
‘While we were on the date it didn’t seem like anything was off. Before we left we hugged and he was like, “Am I going to see you again?” and I said “Sure”.’
After saying, ‘I’ll hold you to it’, and telling Diamond to drive safe, they went their separate ways.
‘Then later on he sent that message and it caught me off guard because I thought everything went well. It was crazy, it definitely was unexpected,’ she explained.
‘I feel it shows his true personality – how unsettled and insecure he is with himself.

‘Misery loves company and he has to be pretty miserable with life itself to even think like that.’
The text message Diamond’s date sent to her read: ‘Honestly Diamond. You seem like [an amazing woman] but I don’t think we’re compatible.
‘You ate the whole damn salad which isn’t ladylike. [It] makes me feel like you’re greedy for food and I need a woman who knows when to stop eating.
‘You know I meal prep and go to the gym daily. I just feel like you’d be overweight in the near future.
‘I still want to hang out but that bothered me. I almost exploded.
‘I love your vibe and energy [though]. You’re perfect, it’s just that one thing plus it was our first date.’
He questioned how she could ‘eat that much’ during a first date when you’re supposed to have ‘butterflies’.
After returning home from the restaurant date in the neighbouring town of Colonial Heights, Virginia, the nursing assistant was gobsmacked to receive the man’s berating text message.

Diamond says she had only ordered a side portion of a grilled chicken Caesar salad as her meal for the evening.
Meanwhile, her ‘hypocritical’ date ate his entire meal of chicken, asparagus and mashed potato as well as an entire basket of bread before the main.
Diamond said: ‘I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad and he had some sort of parmesan chicken with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes.
‘He ate the majority of his meal and just left a few pieces of the asparagus.
‘He ate like the whole basket of bread that you get before the meal as well so he’s a hypocrite really.
‘I feel like a grilled chicken Caesar salad is healthy. To me, any salad is healthy.
‘It wasn’t even a big salad, I got the side salad, so for him to say that was just like ‘wow’.
‘If I had got the big salad I probably wouldn’t have even finished that but the side salads are pretty small.
‘I didn’t respond to the text message – I felt like no response is a response. I laughed at it and then I blocked him.
Diamond posted about her bizarre dating experience on Facebook and was bombarded with more than 6,000 comments from people who shared her confusion at the man’s text
‘My feelings were hurt a little bit but it was just like ‘whatever’ – I didn’t really take it to heart because he wasn’t the kind of person for me.
‘I understand everyone has standards but that was just pure foolishness.’

Some even accused the anonymous suitor of being ‘fat-phobic’ and ‘controlling’ – warning Diamond to ‘run away’ from him.
One commenter said: ‘He deserves to be alone if the potential for chub scares him before it even happens…*a whole SALAD*.’
Another said: ‘That’s not a potential boyfriend, that’s a prison warden who wants a cheap date […].
‘RUN don’t walk away from this guy and leave him in a cloud of dust. […]
‘Not into dates so obviously shallow and controlling, sings of doom from the start.’
A third said: ‘People are weird. I’ve never heard of anyone being put off by someone eating their whole meal.
‘Were you supposed to just eat a half salad? I’m confused…Like dang what [does] he eat?’
The nursing assistant says she will never meet up with the man again but will continue dating until she finds Mr Right.
She is now using her ‘lucky escape’ dating experience to warn others about ‘red flags’ early on in relationships.
Diamond said ‘I will continue dating because not all guys are like that and there’s plenty more fish in the sea.
‘I’m glad he did it sooner rather than later because most guys usually take about six months to show the true them but this guy did it on the first night. It was a very lucky escape.
‘Don’t ignore the red flags and pay attention to the signs.’
