Here’s what’s ahead in Neighbours.
Harold’s words cut Melanie like a knife
Harold is being eaten up by his disproval of Toadie and Mel’s relationship and is now actively avoiding the wedding planning sessions. Not knowing why he’s behaving so strangely, Melanie becomes suspicious. She confronts Harold and as he finds himself backed into a corner, he realises he’ll have to confess how he truly feels about this impending marriage. Mel is not prepared for his outburst and his words sting while she tries to enjoy her own engagement party. She grits her teeth and carries on, but it’s bubbling under the surface, with things only set to get more difficult when Toadie’s mum Angie – someone else who is not a fan of Mel’s – arrives.
Gun horror as David’s situation escalates
David’s family rejoice when they learn he’ll soon be moved, but the fact is this won’t even slightly solve his problems. Their joy is short-lived, and their hearts sink when they receive a horrifying photo of David that makes it clear his life is at risk. They need to do something drastic to save him, so Andrew suggests wearing a wire to catch the dodgy prison guard. It’s a good but dangerous plan, but David sees this is the only way. Things go terribly wrong and David ends up trapped and injured. Nicolette and Freya step in to try and save him – they go after Emma and formulate a plan to bring her down. Nicolette distracts her while Freya tackles her, but then events take a turn, and they find themselves staring down the barrel of a gun. Is their plan going to end in disaster?
Bombshell hits Kennedys as Mal reveals his new girlfriend
Mal Kennedy rocks up on his parents’ doorstep without warning and they are delighted, but he’s carrying a secret. A huge secret. Karl and Susan know that something is up but can’t put their fingers on it. Just as well really as it’s quite the shocker. To abate their inquisitive parental minds, Mal divulges a secret, but it’s not the secret he’s truly harbouring. This becomes clear when Izzy Hoyland – Karl’s ex, mother of his baby, and once ruiner of his marriage – arrives as Mal’s girlfriend. Karl and Susan are blind to this initially as Mal tells his controversial girlfriend he needs her to remain hidden until he’s had chance to have the chat. Izzy being Izzy, doesn’t do as she’s told in keeping her head down. Instead, she shows up on Ramsay Street and heads straight to the Kennedys. She believes Mal has told his parents the truth when he hasn’t, so she bowls in and drops that bombshell. Susan’s face will be a picture.
Joe Mangel returns to set the record straight
Neighbours couldn’t end without one of the original legends Joe Mangel himself making an appearance. We will not be disappointed as he pops back to right some wrongs. Harold has put the cat amongst the pigeons with his reaction to Mel and Toadie getting married, all based on his understanding of the acrimonious way Mel and Joe’s marriage ended. Well, turns out that Joe span a yarn and Harold was fed a web of half-truths about their breakup. So Joe arrives to set the record straight; that he bent the truth when telling Harold how their divorce went down to fit his own agenda and he tells Harold what really happened. Harold is horrified at his mistake and immediately sets about making amends.
Massive surprise return for Paul
Paul is struggling under the weight of David’s predicament, but he finds some light relief when an old friend shows up out of the blue – his former best pal Shane. And not only that, he comes bearing a proposition. Paul is giddy at the offer, while Shane is considering things carefully – he’s clearly a little sus of Paul. Will the deal go ahead?
Clive’s murky past is uncovered
Byron is on to something after learning his client Danielle is connected to Clive. He goes snooping, but his detective skills fail him, and he is busted. Danielle immediately fires him and warns Clive. But while the pair think they have the upper hand at discovering Byron’s antics, they haven’t accounted for Nicolette popping up just as Clive and Danielle meet to discuss the situation. She snaps away at the precise moment they get too close – All the evidence points to Jane being cheated on. Clive is confronted and he is forced into a huge confession – there is a chapter of his life he is particularly ashamed of and has been keeping it hidden. Jane is aghast at this unexpected information and turns to Danielle for answers. But she doesn’t get the clarity she’s after, Danielle has her own bombshells.
Terese offers an olive branch
Terese can sense Paul is under huge amounts of stress around David’s current situation. She has an idea and floats it with Paul that perhaps they delay their divorce so that he can focus his attention where it needs to be – on his family. Paul is touched by the gesture, but it weighs heavy on his heart – while it’s a tempting offer, he knows it’s merely putting off the inevitable. They are over, and it’s time to fully embrace it.
Scenes air from Monday July 11 on Channel 5.
