Sylvester Stallone Denies Wife’s Claims That His Spending Led To Divorce
Last week, Sylvester Stallone’s wife of 25-years filed for divorce amid a dispute about their marital assets. The actor has now responded by denying that he improperly used their assets.
On August 19th, Jennifer filed paperwork in a Florida court accusing Sylvester of engaging “in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate.” Under Florida law, this reasoning is often given if one spouse has excessively spent or borrowed money.

Jennifer is requesting “unequal distribution of the marital assets” as well as sole ownership of the Florida mansion they bought in 2020. She is also asking that all of her attorney fees and legal costs be covered by her estranged husband.
Now, Sylvester has responded to his wife’s accusations, which have caused a stir online. In the filing, his legal team says the actor “has not engaged” in the behavior he’s been accused of.

He’s also challenging his wife’s request that he cover her divorce-related expenses, noting that she “hired counsel to represent her and agreed to pay them their legal fees.”
But it doesn’t seem as though Sylvester is opposing the divorce, as he referred to their relationship as “irretrievably broken.”
Initial reports suggested that a dog came in between the long-time couple’s relationship. Sylvester reportedly got a rottweiler, which led to an argument between the pair. The theory gained further traction when it was revealed the Rocky star covered up a tattoo of his wife with an image of one of his dogs.

However, Sylvester has responded to the controversy to deny the dog fuelled the divorce. “We did not end the relationship on such a trivial argument,” he told TMZ.
“We just went in different directions. I have the highest respect for Jennifer,” he continued. “I will always love her. She’s an amazing woman. She’s the nicest human being I’ve ever met.”
Sylvester and Jennifer share three daughters, and the actor also has two children from previous relationships. The couple began dating in the late ‘80s, and though they were on-and-off for several years, they tied the knot in 1997.
“While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters,” Jennifer said in a statement after their divorce was made public.
Sylvester also issued a statement, which said, “I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues.”
The divorce remains ongoing.
