The Traitors Alex and Toms lives off-screen including if theyre still together
If you’ve been watching BBC One’s The Traitors, you probably weren’t prepared for contestant Tom Elderfield announcing that he’s been in a relationship with another player, TV presenter Alex Gray all along.
In case you missed it, the show is hosted by Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman, and stars 22 contestants, all who arrive at a grand Scottish castle ready for a series of mind games.
To begin with, Claudia selects a small group of people to be ‘traitors’ and the remaining ‘faithfuls’ get eliminated as the series goes on by being ‘killed’ by the traitors.
However, the traitors don’t get off scot-free – they can be ‘banished’ if they’re identified as one by one of the faithfuls.
But amongst the psychological warfare and the battle to win the £120,000 cash prize, the show has sparked a lot of questions from viewers. Including whether the shock relationship between Tom and Alex, who rejected an offer to betray the Faithfuls in a show twist, is still going strong outside of the castle.
Upon being eliminated last week, magician Tom spoke to Radio Times about his time on The Traitors, plus the bombshell that was on everyone’s lips.
“Everyone’s mentioned that!” he said after being asked about his and Alex’s relationship.
"She’s getting so many DMs from so many guys! There’s been a DM that was like, ‘Ah, you and Matt are such a better couple than you and Tom,’ and it actually gives me so much clarity that people at home actually have no idea about us.
"It makes me a bit happier that they’re saying this.”
He then opened up about how everyone has been asking whether they’re still a couple outside of the show.
"But non-stop, everyone’s asking, ‘Are you still together? Are you still together?”
To which he responded: “And we are – but we always have been. We’ve gone through worse."
During the show – and prior to Tom revealing their secret relationship – there were claims that Matt and Alex were flirting.
Tom addressed this issue, saying: “But yeah it was entertaining. It was quite funny. Although it’s been edited like she says that she flirts, watch it – she never flirts.”
“She’s literally being her lovely self but the thing is, Matt is on it straightaway. Bless him. I was always fine,” he added.
But while it looks as though the two keep their social media strictly work-related (apart from The Traitors clip, neither of them have any couple-ey photos on their grids), this recent interview confirms that the two are very much still an item.
