TikTok users go wild for ‘life changing’ hack as mum reveals how to remove rust using mud

A TikTok user has shared a 'life changing hack' that is simple and doesn't cost a penny. The mum, whose handle on the popular social media site is @gypsyqueenpashy13, shared her tip on how to clear up rusty steel on metal bar stool seats.

Although the hack was shown on a bar stool, it could be used on any metal that is rusty. She said: "Anything that is rusty, that has stainless steel on it will work."

@gypsyqueenpashy13 said: "Now this stool is really rusty, gypsy ways are the best ways. Watch and learn everyone. Drop water on the dirt and get yourself a good old scourer. From a ditch, anywhere will do."

She can then be seen mixing the mud and water with the scourer in hand, as she attempts to create some sort of mud mask for the rusty steel.

Once she had a good amount of mud scraped onto the scourer, she started to scrub the rusty base as she said: "Will power! Gypsy Queen will show you!"

As she continues scrubbing, glimmers of rust-free metal can be seen shining out from the muddy covering. It really looked like magic.

As if to illustrate the before and after, she said: "So I'll just show you what I've done." Taking a wet flannel, she wiped the mud of giving it a "good wipe round".

"If you see just there how it [the rust] all lifted. Look at that everyone, that's what you've got to try now."

She added a spritz of cleaning product to finish off her handiwork that she was so proud of. She said: "Now let's bring it up shiny with some Fabulosa. Gypsy ways are the best ways!"

The makeover of the bar stool was so stark, other TikTok users couldn't help but share their excitement at the hack.

The now-viral video that lasts only two minutes and nineteen seconds was hailed a life changing hack.

One astounded user whose comment got 904 likes said: "This video is life changing."

Another TikTok user shared their newfound appreciation for nature as they said: "Earth is so amazing. Who woulda thought. Thank you."

One curious Tik Tok user asked: "I’m so curious how you worked this out lol! Tbh it works a dream!!"

Another grateful commenter said: "Couldn’t have seen this at a better time, was going to bin my bar stools- thank you."

The hack does work for other items and not just bar stools. One user said: "I have a dish drainer, it had the same rust like this… I used a sponge & fairy, it worked perfectly (even without fairy but I wanted to clean it too)."

Some amazed TikTok users couldn't wait and tried out the hack immediately, causing one to say with pride: "I tried this and it does work was well impressed."

One user who appeared pleased to save money said: "No expensive creams or cleaner ruining the environment brilliant."

The hack not only saves you money, as no expensive cleaning products are needed – the Fabulosa is seemingly optional as that doesn't shift the rust. The hack also helps you not spend money on new items and instead, helps you upcycle and use what you already have.
