Tom Sizemore's scandals: Sex tape, Elizabeth Hurley affair, drug use

A sordid affair with Elizabeth Hurley, an explosive sex tape, drug addiction, and accusations of domestic abuse: FEMAIL reveals the MANY scandals that cast a dark shadow over Tom Sizemore’s career – and stopped him from becoming a true mega star

  • The actor, 61, is in critical condition after suffering from a brain aneurysm
  • He has faced many scandals over the years like drug use and multiple arrests
  • The star was also accused of domestic assault and molesting an 11-year-old

When Tom Sizemore starred in the Steven Spielberg Oscar-award winning World War II movie Saving Private Ryan in 1998, he was quickly propelled into the spotlight – and many thought it would be the beginning of a triumphant career for the budding movie star.

But Sizemore’s sudden success from the flick was quickly overshadowed by a series of scandals – including a controversial affair with Elizabeth Hurley, an addiction to heroin and meth that saw him arrested on multiple occasions, accusations from many of his romantic partners of domestic abuse, an explosive sex tape, and a shocking allegation that he once molested an 11-year-old girl on set.

After a 30-year rollercoaster career in Hollywood, the 61-year-old actor is now in critical condition after suffering from a brain aneurysm over the weekend.

His manager, Charles Lago, told Fox News that they are ‘hoping for the best’ but added that it’s ‘too early to know’ what the outcome will be.

The star grew up in the ‘rough part’ of Detroit, Michigan, and landed his first role in 1989, in Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July.

While he starred in a few more movies throughout the ’90s – like Natural Born Killers and Heat – it was his part in Saving Private Ryan that truly put him on the map.

Sizemore continued to act after that, appearing in films like Peal Harbor and Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, but his career was plagued with numerous scandals that resulted in him developing a reputation as a wild partier with fierce temper.

He battled a severe drug addiction that started at the age of 15 and was fueled by his sudden success and landed him behind bars numerous times over the years.

After blowing all his money on drugs, alcohol, and legal fees, Sizemore hit ‘rock bottom’ in 2009, and after losing his $7 million mansion, he found himself ‘squatting’ in a home with no water or electricity – and begging his celebrity friends to loan him money.

Sizemore was hit with multiple accusations of domestic violence from many different women over the years – and he was even once accused of inappropriately touching a young girl while filming the movie Born Killers in 2003.

While her parents opted not to press charges at the time, the actress later sued Sizemore for $3 million while claiming she was still suffering from PTSD from the incident – however, her case was ultimately dismissed.

From his multiple stints in jail and rampant partying to claims that he hit his girlfriends and accusations that he molested an 11-year-old, here are all the scandals Sizemore has faced over the years.

Sizemore’s scandalous love life: The actor was accused of domestic violence by multiple women, starred in an explosive sex tape, and claimed to have had a controversial affair with Elizabeth Hurley

Sizemore, who grew up in the ‘rough part’ of Detroit, Michigan, landed his first ever acting role in 1989, when he starred in Stone’s biographical film Born on the Fourth of July, which was based off an autobiography by Ron Kovic and also starred Tom Cruise.

Arguably his biggest role came in 1998 when he starred in Spielberg’s Oscar-award winning Saving Private Ryan – which earned $481.1 million at the box office and was the second most successful film of that year following Shakespeare in Love.

After that, Sizemore’s career quickly took off and the roles came pouring in. However, while Sizemore’s career was flourishing, his personal life was crumbling.

During his decades-long career, his love life was often the subject of much media attention – thanks to accusations from multiple women of domestic violence, his involvement in a wild sex tape, and claims that he had an affair with Hurley while she was dating Hugh Grant.

The Saving Private Ryan star was married just once – he wed The Bold and the Beautiful actress Maeve Quinlan in 1996, but they divorced in 1999, after only three years together.

She later spoke about being a ‘survivor of domestic abuse’ to Eden magazine, and while she didn’t name Sizemore during the 2019 interview, many thought she was referring to her relationship with the troubled actor.

‘I am finally ready to say this and make it public, that I am a survivor of domestic abuse, and that’s something I intend to bring awareness to in my 50s,’ she told the outlet.

‘I didn’t like to talk about it earlier because I was just grateful to be out of that marriage and out of harm’s way.’

Arguably one of Sizemore’s most controversial romances was with former Hollywood madame Heidi Fleiss – a woman who ran an upscale prostitution ring based in Los Angeles.

They were together for a few years in the early 2000s, but in 2003, their romance came to a screeching halt when she accused Sizemore of punching her in the jaw – resulting in him getting arrested for domestic abuse, which he was found guilty of.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Sizemore was jailed again in 2009 and in 2011, both times for suspected battery of a former spouse, but it’s unclear what happened with those cases.

In 2016, he was charged with two misdemeanor counts of injuring an intimate partner, which he plead no contest to.

At the time, his girlfriend, who kept her identity hidden for privacy reasons, told investigators that the actor hit her in the head and face after an argument between them turned physical. He was given 36 months of probation and 30 days of community service.

‘He hadn’t done Four Weddings And A Funeral yet, and I didn’t know who he was – I just figured he was some out-of-work British actor.

Sizemore made headlines again in 2013, when he claimed in his tell-all memoir, By Some Miracle I Made It Out Of There, that he and Hurley had a secret, three-year affair while she was dating Grant during the ’90s.

He said they fell for one another on set of the 1992 movie Passenger 57, and they ended up going back to LA together after the flick wrapped.

‘That’s when I found out that she already had a boyfriend back in England: Hugh Grant,’ he wrote.

‘Little did I know that everyone knew he was going to be a movie star any minute and he was a friend of Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown.

‘Once I found out about him, Elizabeth started being honest with me about it. I’d be at her place and she’d say: “Hugh is coming in nine days – when do you think you should start taking your things out?”

In 2005, Sizemore (seen in 2005) was hit with more scandal when a sex tape which showed him participating in ‘hard-core scenes with up to three women at a time’ began to circulate

Sizemore became a father that same year, when his girlfriend at the time, a woman named Janelle McIntire, welcomed twin boys, named Jagger and Jayden (seen in 2012)

‘I’d get tearful and not let her see it. I just loved her. I didn’t see other girls, didn’t talk about other girls – I was completely enraptured and in her world.

‘But then Hugh would come into town and I’d say to my friends, “I’m done, I don’t have to deal with this, I can go out with this other girl who likes me,” but I could never do it. I’d make dates with people when he was there, but I never kept them.’

He concluded: ‘Eventually, I was able to get out of my relationship with Elizabeth but I never really got over her.’

In 2005, Sizemore was hit with more scandal when a 70-minute sex tape reportedly made by Vivid Entertainment – which showed him participating in ‘hard-core scenes with up to three women at a time’ – began to circulate.

‘This is the maraschino cherry on the banana split of bad luck I have been having,’ he said in a statement to The Sydney Morning Herald at the time, regarding the porn video.

The molestation allegation: Sizemore was accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl on set of the movie Born Killers in 2003

In 2017, The Hollywood Reporter released a shocking report that claimed he had been kicked off a movie set for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl in 2003. Sizemore is seen in 2003

According to ‘a dozen crew members’ from the movie Born Killers, the young actress, who was identified as Kiersten Pyke (seen in 2018), ‘told her mother that he had touched her genitals’

Sizemore’s reputation was further shattered in 2017, when The Hollywood Reporter released a shocking report that claimed he had been kicked off a movie set for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl in 2003

According to ‘a dozen cast and crew members’ from the movie Born Killers, Sizemore was told to leave the set in Utah after the young actress, who was later identified as Kiersten Pyke, ‘told her mother that he had touched her genitals.’

She allegedly said Sizemore ‘put his finger inside her’ during a photoshoot they were doing for the movie, in which she had to sit on his lap.

‘It filtered down to the crew,’ Roi Maufas, who worked as a production assistant, told the publication.

‘The little girl said what she said and we all thought, “That f**king sleazebag.” There was never any doubt.

‘He was this guy who was already known for making inappropriate comments, being drunk, being high.’

Ultimately, the outlet reported that the girl’s parents ‘declined to press charges.’ While Sizemore was originally thrown off set, he returned months later for reshoots, and the film ended up going on as planned.

‘[The girl’s parents] did talk to the police but didn’t press charges,’ one of the movie’s producers, Michael Manshel, said to THR.

‘We also talked to Tom at the time, and told him everything that had been told to us, and he said: “I’ve done a lot of awful things, and I’d never do anything with kids.”

‘We considered whether we had some responsibility to him to not pass judgment on him.

‘We had a fiduciary responsibility to complete the film so we decided to go about business as usual — lacking the evidence of what happened that day.’

In 2018, the Pyke sued Sizemore for $3 million, claiming that the incident left her with ‘post-traumatic stress disorder and addiction to drugs and alcohol.’ He is seen in 2014

But Manshel insisted: ‘We took the allegation extremely seriously and we were willing to do anything, including dismissing Tom. We just couldn’t be police, judge and jury.’

Following the allegations, Sizemore’s ex Fleiss told USA Today  that she believed ‘he should be castrated,’ adding, ‘I knew he had disgusting issues, but that was shocking, an 11-year-old child like that is just shocking.’

The suit was dismissed by a judge two years later, and at the time, Sizemore denied the ‘highly disturbing’ accusations in a statement to USA Today. He is seen in 2021

The suit was dismissed by a judge two years later, and at the time, Sizemore denied the ‘highly disturbing’ accusations in a statement to USA Today.

‘I hope this highly disturbing matter is finally over for all concerned,’ he said. ‘While I feel nothing but sympathy for my accuser… I remain dismayed by her allegations.

‘I not only never inappropriately touched her, but I would never inappropriately touch any child.

‘Beyond the loss of work and the pain and humiliation this has caused me and my family, the thought that an 11-year old girl would think I violated her, whether it be because she misconstrued some inadvertent touching when the director placed her upon my lap for the photo shoot or someone else instilled this idea in her head for whatever malicious, self-serving reasons, is what devastates me most.

‘That said, I hope she looks at my life, all of the mistakes I have made, and never ventures down my frequently misguided path.

‘I humbly request that I not be assumed guilty of these accusations based on my checkered past. I have visited heartache upon my family, and many others, but I did not do this.’

His long battle with substance abuse: Sizemore struggled with heroin and meth addictions, which landed him behind bars on numerous occasions and forced him to live out of his car after he blew all his money on drugs

He battled a severe drug addiction that started at the age of 15 and was fueled by his sudden success and landed him behind bars numerous times over the years

Sizemore battled substance abuse issues for many years, which began at age 15, and were fueled by his fame and success.

According to the Daily Beast, he struggled with a heroin addiction in the ’90s, but got clean in 1998 after a long stint in rehab – which he only attended in attempt to save his marriage with Quinlan.

However, he told the outlet that he started using meth after he started dating Fleiss and she introduced it to him in 2001.

He was arrested in 2005 for failing drug tests during probation, in 2007 for possession of methamphetamine, and in 2019 and 2020 for drug-related charges. He is seen in 2020

His drug problems landed him behind bars on multiple occasions – first, in 2005, when he repeatedly failed drug tests during his probation for a domestic violence charge.

He ultimately served seven months in jail and four months in a drug treatment program, but he was arrested again in 2007 for possession of methamphetamine.

‘I could feel people thinking, “What a shame – look at what Tom Sizemore’s done to his life,”‘ he told the Daily Beast of his downfall.

‘I never really used the tools [to get clean]. If I wanted to use, I didn’t think, “Well, I could call someone and try to talk about this.” I didn’t do any of the internal work.

‘I used to blame my problems on other people. But my moment of clarity, if you want to call it that, came when I was looking in the mirror one day and just burst into tears.

‘It wasn’t just that I looked bad, it was that I knew my problem was me. I used to think it was [Fleiss] or the police trying to find some sort of scapegoat, but I could suddenly see that it was me and that it had always been me.’

He participated in the show Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2010, and while viewers watched on as he got clean during the series, he returned to using drugs soon after.

After blowing all his money on drugs, alcohol, and legal fees, Sizemore hit ‘rock bottom’ in 2009, and found himself ‘squatting’ in a home with no water or electricity. He is seen in 2011

In 2017, however, he told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that he was approaching four years of sobriety, as he prepared to return to the big screen after a decade-long absence.

‘My life’s gotten a lot better, it’s been a real chronicle, but I’ve got a long history of substance abuse, I was in a really bad place,’ he explained.

‘And I’m coming up on four years sober, it was really difficult, the first two years were miserable I thought I’d never smile again. But I am smiling again, you’ve got to stick around until you feel better.

‘Drugs are a progressive disease, if I do drugs again I go right back to where I was before, I was ineffectual, I could barely get dressed, I was hopeless.’

The actor also detailed hitting ‘rock bottom’ years earlier, admitting that he blew all his money on drugs, alcohol, and legal fees, which resulted in him ‘squatting’ for two years after being forced to sell his $7 million mansion.

He said he even begged Jack Nicholson to loan him $10 million so he could buy another house.

‘This is how f***ed up I was, I could have bought something else, like a condo or something, but I wanted a house again,’ he revealed.

‘So I was driving around in my car for a couple of weeks, I mean I was on drugs, I was thinking I’m gonna get the money to buy a $5 million home and I’m asking certain people for money. I asked Jack Nicholson, “Can you loan me $10 million,” and he said, “In a word, no.”

‘I was living in a squat, in Sylmar [California], up in the woods, with no water, no electricity.

‘I’m pretty handy though, so I stole some electricity from the telephone pole, redirected some water. That was not cool.’

He added that coming from a rough part of Detroit and landing in Beverly Hills surrounded by the trappings of fame, only then to lose it all again, was was difficult to bare.

‘It was pretty quick from coming through adolescence to becoming a big star so I had nothing and then I had everything,’ said the star.

But in 2021, the actor (seen in 2022) told Fox News that he was sober, admitting, ‘I’ve been trying to get sober since 1991. I’ve had a problem for a long time’

‘To have everything, a 24 hour cook, a 24 hour maid, the whole ball of wax. Several million dollars in the bank and job after job after job, then to have it so abruptly stop.’

He also recalled the first time he ever took cocaine – which he said was at a party at the home of an A-list actor (whose name he didn’t divulge).

‘I walked out on to the balcony and it really felt like Christmas and my birthday and the first time I got a piece of a** all rolled up into one,’ he continued.

‘My head exploded, everything was more colorful and I was like, “This is what I’ve been missing, this is why everyone is so happy.”

‘It made me feel like this is who I am, I’m with it now, I’m connected, I’m excited.’

However, his sobriety was short-lived, since he was arrested again in 2019 and 2020 for drug-related charges.

But in 2021, the actor told Fox News that he was sober once again, admitting, ‘I’ve been trying to get sober since 1991. I’ve had a problem for a long time.

‘I had periods, long periods, of sobriety and I would end up relapsing. [Now], I go to meetings and work my steps. I had reached a place in my life where I knew I had to stop.

‘I couldn’t be arrogant anymore. If I wanted to reach a nice and pleasant old age, I had to stop.

‘And if I wanted to watch my kids grow up, I needed to reach a place where I knew it was over.

‘So far, it has remained over. I still have to do my daily inventory and show up. I’ve been through quite a bit, and I’m now more mature.’
