TOWIE’s Courtney Green goes for a candlelit brunette hair colour makeover

‘Tis the season for a summer hair refresh, andThe Only Way is EssexstarCourtney Greenis the latest celeb to head to the salon to get a full hair freshen up as she prepares for the new season.

Although she didn’t go for a major transformation, Courtney took her followers along to show them the exact process she gets to achieve her gorgeous brunette hair colour, after her fans begged her for the secret to the cool-toned brown.

In a new reel shared to herInstagram, Courtney reveals that she’s very specific about what she wants when it comes to her tresses, making sure that there are no warm-toned shades in it at all.

Showing her followers her ‘before’ hair, Courtney tells her fans that she’s already removed her extensions, and shows where her coloured hair has grown out and where her blonde sections have developed some yellow tones that she’s not a fan of.

Heading to the By Georgina salon in Essex – a firm favourite with TOWIE cast members – Courtney has a consultation with her go-to hairstylistGalitfirst, where she told Galit she wanted a freshen up and her money pieces brought up higher.

She also shares some behind the scenes shots of Galit mixing up the bleach and adding Olaplex to the mixture to help protect her hair during the lightning process and prevent any damage.

To get the subtle lighter sections, Courtney shows how Galit backcombs different parts of her hair into fine sections then hand paints them with the bleach to achieve a natural lookin blonde section. She then adds the lightener to Courtney’s money piece sections at the front of her hair to lift them higher and frame her face.

As Galit has been doing her hair for a few years now, she’s pretty savvy about what Courtney wants from her hair, but for her followers benefit the TOWIE star says she asks for really ashy undertones throughout her hair, making sure there’s no yellow or orange in the blonde. Courtney adds: “Even when it comes to doing my roots I like a really ashy brown, I don’t want a chocolate brown – you know very red-y – I want it ashy.”

Courtney also admits she’s actually really allergic to hair dye, saying the component called paraphenylenediamine, also known as PPD, which is usually more present in darker hair dyes. Some of her followers took to the comments to share they suffer from the same allergy and asking which dye the salon used that didn’t contain PPD, with Courtney replying that they’d been able to use Wella colour on her hair with no reaction.

After the foils have been removed and her hair brushed out, a toner is added to Courtney’s roots, before getting her hair dried and cut. The reality star did admit she has a ‘fear of getting her hair cut’, confessing she makes Galit show her each individual section before she cuts it.

The final look is dried and styled into beachy waves, before Courtney shows off the final look, calling it ‘perfection’.

Just like Courtney says, knowing exactly what you want when you visit the hairdressers is key to making sure they get it right the first time, so don’t be afraid to be specific with what you’re aiming for!
