We live in the friendliest town in the UK – people take time to chat and everyone knows everyone, we love it | The Sun

RESIDENTS of the UK’s friendliest town have bragged about how they all know their neighbours and everyone loves to stop and chat.

A new study crowned Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, one of the most friendly spot in the British Isles.

According to Booking.com Enniskillen is “surrounded by picturesque scenery, vast lakes, and natural beauty”.

They say it is the perfect place to “be at one with nature in the countryside, boost your mental health and soak up some warm hospitality.”

And locals say there's nowhere else they'd rather live – thanks to the friendliness of residents.

Speaking to ITV, Noelle McAloon, the Enniskillen BID Manager said: "Even on a wet day, you will find that people are sitting, stopping, catching up and just finding out what their neighbours are doing and what the visitors are thinking about the town,"

"I think it's something to do with Fermanagh time. Have you ever heard of that?

Local butcher Fintan O'Doherty added: “Everything tends to run a wee bit slower, everybody's a little laid back.

“People generally can relax a wee bit more.”

Enniskillen is the largest town the county – but is home to just 14,000 residents.

Local businessman Patrick Conlon explained: "I love it. I think that all the businesses and the people who live here are proud of it because of the lakes and the lovely eateries and the hotels.

"So much goes into the tourist industry that there's an extra incentive to put that forwards too.”

Kirkwall in Orkney, Scotland, also made the friendly list.

One taxi driver living in the area said he left his phone, wallet and car keys on the seat of his unlocked car.

For four days, nothing was touched or stolen.

The same cabbie then dropped his wallet filled with £850 in cash on the floor at Kirkwall Airport – which a stranger handed in for him.
