Woman called ‘dirty’ for showering 2-3 times a week – but says she’s not smelly

A healthcare worker has been branded ‘dirty’ for her ‘concerning’ hygiene habits and lack of showers.

Allison McCarthy, from Boston, US, has been blasted as a ‘gross human being’ after sharing her bathing routine on TikTok.

The 27-year-old initially claimed she showers once or twice a week – despite going to the gym on three occasions weekly.

In the video, she explained: “This is because most girls when they say they wash their hair twice a week, they literally mean wash their hair – and shower every day.

“I only shower like once or twice a week. I’ve gone five days without showering before."

She later clarified she bathes two or three times a week as she said: “I shower when I go to the gym, which is three times a week.”

The videos racked up millions of views and likes as people rushed to the comments to have their say.

Users branded the 27-year-old ‘dirty’ and called her bathing habits ‘concerning’ especially given her career.

“As a person working in retail, I can smell that a lot of people agree with you,” one person wrote, according to Daily Mail.

Another commented: “I CANNOT go 24 hours without showering. I refuse to believe this is real.”

“She literally has NO excuse for not showering, she has a skincare routine, gym routine works as a NURSE," a third added.

Allison hit back at the negative claims, stating: “I don’t smell, and I don’t need to wash my hair, why would I shower?”

While the healthcare worker was hit with scathing criticism, several people also thanked her for her honesty.

“Not showering every day is actually good for you! Your skin gets to produce natural oils," another added.
