Adam Collard slams Love Island over dramatic show rule change for new contestants and hints at return for two legends | The Sun
LOVE Island star Adam Collard has slammed the dramatic show rule change that recently came into place for new contestants.
Adam, 27, has appeared on the hit ITV show not once but twice, after first appearing in 2018 and then returning as a bombshell in 2022.
And the star hinted he might even return again, but said he’s not a fan of the show’s new social media rule for contestants heading into the villa for the winter series, in just a matter of days.
Love Island announced a massive shake-up of show rules ahead of the new series, banning family and friends of the new batch of islanders from posting on their social media accounts during the show, instead accounts will be dormant.
Adam told The Sun: “There are loads of positives and loads of negatives about this new rule, but I think it’s going to leave the contestants a little bit frustrated.

“At the end of the day, someone could risk a job for this and at least you’ve got the compensation of potentially building a career with social media after it.”
In past series, islanders' teams used their accounts to encourage viewers to vote for them and build up their following.
However, they were often subject to vile abuse from trolls and there were even occasional spats between contestants' family and friends.
Adam continued: “At the same time there’s a big positive in terms of reducing trolling and I guess it does potentially make it more authentic in terms of relationships and stuff.
“Next year, maybe people will sign up because they actually want to fall in love.”
The fitness enthusiast admitted he’s not sure he’d want to go on with the new social media rules in place.
“Maybe I’m being a bit rash there, but there’s just as much chance of meeting someone on the outside as there is inside but you’re potentially risking a job for not as much reward. I guess you’re getting the experience though,” he continued to say.
Adam has found romance both times he’s appeared on the reality show, first with Zara McDermott and more recently with Paige Thorne.
Despite both relationships coming to an end, the star said he’d try his luck for a third time in the villa.

He said: “If I can get two dog sitters probably but they haven’t rang us yet.”
Adam also said he thinks former contestant Megan Barton-Hanson would be a great addition to the show, if she were to return as a bombshell.
Megan appeared in the 2018 series of the show and turned heads with her good looks as a late entry.
Adam said: “I think Megan Barton Hanson would be good because she’s the female equivalent of me, and there’s a reason why they put me back in there.”
ITV2 is days from announcing the cast for its Winter edition, the first that will be hosted by new presenter Maya Jama after Laura Whitmore quit in August last year.
