All Creatures Great and Small fans were delighted when the show returned with James Herriot (played by Nicholas Raph) and Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton)’s wedding. Speaking about the exciting episode on The One Show, Nicholas revealed James’ daughter Rosie “shed a tear” as she watched her on-screen parents get married. 

The One Show host Jermaine Jenas said: “You’re character got married last week and you had some special guests watching from the sidelines.”

Nicholas replied: “James Herriot’s pen name for Alf Wight the real man, the real vet and his son and daughter Jim and Rosie were there on the day when we were filming the marriage scene. 

“So they were there to see their screen mum and dad be married. 

“It was really lovely Rosie shed a tear and we got a picture, it was very nice.”
