Alice in Borderland season three is on everyone’s minds after the Netflix hit ended on a huge cliffhanger. With the players now seemingly back in the real world, having completed the game, their journey is far from over. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the show’s future.
Has Alice in Borderland been renewed for season 3?
The second season has made its way into the Netflix top 10 as it left viewers on the edge of their seats during the final stage of the game.
The last obstacle Arisu (played by Kento Yamazaki) had to get past was Mira, otherwise known as the Queen of Hearts (Minako Kotobuki).
Although she tried hard to throw Arisu and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) off course, they managed to pull themselves back into reality.
With the game complete, viewers found out the players had been in hospital the whole time after a meteorite hit.
Although the players could no longer remember each other, they all walked off into the distance together.
In the final moments, a Joker card appeared on the screen, suggesting the characters are still being played.
A third season of Alice In Borderland has yet to be officially confirmed by Netflix.
However, this does not mean the series will not be renewed in the near future, due to its popularity.
As the show is based on Haro Aso’s survival and thriller manga, there is still plenty of source material yet to cover.
Especially with the second season ending on a cliffhanger, there is plenty of scope for the story to continue.
Season three could take place in a virtual reality environment, as the Joker card suggested the players are being tricked.
A new game may have already started without the players even knowing, and they are more vulnerable than ever as they have no memory of what happened.

The manga series is made up of 18 volumes and there was a series of spin-off stories added.
With this in mind, as long as the series continues to prove popular, there is no reason why it should not continue for many seasons to come.
Actor Yamazaki hinted at what themes could be explored as he opened up about the second outing.
Speaking to Geek Culture he said: “In season two, it’s not just a death game or a death match that you’re seeing.
“We really dig into each character and we really dive into the theme of ‘what are we doing on this Earth?’ and these questions include, ‘What is life about? What is it to live?’.
“These deep questions that we pose are also part of the original comic series.
“You’re living in a world of survival. There’s betrayal, people hurt each other, people con each other and in that world, [Arisu and Usagi] understand each other.
“There’s no lies, and they’re able to build this dynamic relationship and in order to survive, in such an extreme environment, they’re helping each other, they trust each other. I think it’s the power of love.”
