Anton and Giovanni speak out on roles away from Strictly
Anton & Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily trailer
Anton du Beke and Giovanni Pernice left viewers in stitches as they embarked on a trip around Sicily in Italy for their new BBC show. The duo drove around in a hire car as Giovanni took his Strictly Come Dancing pal to the places he grew up. Giovanni’s former dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis also made a surprise appearance in the three-part series.
However, speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk and other press, Anton and Giovanni addressed their future plans and whether another series is on the cards.
Discussing why they wanted to team up together for a new project away from their roles on Strictly, Anton explained: “[After] being together on stage and just being us, made the relationship work even better really.
“I like to think the show is about the relationship between Giovanni and I and I’m thrilled about that because that’s the most important really.”
When asked whether they had any inspiration from any other travel shows, Giovanni simply replied: “No.
“I think as Anton said, I think the difference is, our show is based on our friendship and I think that’s what has made the show.”
“It is real and it is sincere,” he went on to add.
Addressing whether there will be another series, Anton said: “We’d love to do more because we enjoy it.
“Experiences are a lovely thing but it’s even better if they’re shared.”
The Strictly Come Dancing champion also opened up about why it was important for him to show Anton his home town.
Paying a tribute to the professional dancer, Giovanni shared: “Anton has always been for me the person I look [up to].
“Since I started Strictly Come Dancing and the Strictly Come Dancing institution that’s what we call it, we ended up good friends.
“And then we did our show together for two years and this is our third so we know each other very well.”

“I already classified Anton as a friend, so it was nice to share this experience with a friend,” he added.
Referencing the moment Anton met his family, the 32-year-old said: “It was nice watching as an outsider when you met my family.
“Anton has always been my family away from home, so combining my real family and my family away from home which is Anton, it was beautiful.
“It was a moment in my life I felt proud of myself and happy. That’s how I felt when I saw my dad and Anton hugging, it was a special moment.”
