Bargain Hunt expert in disbelief as he sets new world record with eye-watering sale | The Sun
A BARGAIN Hunt expert was left in disbelief after he set a new world record with an eye-watering sale.
Charles Hanson is a firm favourite on the BBC series and has a wealth of experience in buying and selling valuable items.
But even he was amazed by the sale he made on a letter belonging to Lord Nelson.
It can be a tricky arena to sell in, as forgeries of documents and dispatches from the Vice-Admiral have floated around the market over the years.
However, authentic rare letters are currently on sale online from £2,000 to £8,000.
But Charles gazumped all of that with his genuine document, earning a staggering £58,000 and setting a new world record.

During a chat with Express.co.uk, Charles also opened up about how he sold a piece of King Charles' wedding breakfast after the now Monarch was unable to eat a piece of toast on the day he married Princess Diana.
He said: "We were selling a piece of toast for Prince Charles on his wedding day… he couldn’t eat.
“When my client’s mother cleaned his breakfast tray in July 1981 on his wedding day, he left that piece of toast.”
He joked: "When I saw that piece of toast, my response was, ‘Crumbs’.”

The uneaten slice of toast sold for £800 at auction.
Charles doesn't always get things right though, as he once valued a rare Chinese vase at £50,000, only for it to sell for a staggering £700,000 at auction.
He said: “It was Aunt Beryl’s vase, which was given to our client in 1976.”
He added that the family had "no idea" of its value and so he had to warn the grandchildren to "be careful" with it.
Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
