BBC Breakfast Jon Kay in trouble as host makes pointed jab at team dynamics
BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay landed himself in hot water after he accidentally forgot to introduce Morning Live on air.
During Tuesday’s visit to the BBC studios (July 25), the beloved TV presenter and his co-host Sally Nugent welcomed viewers back to the signature orange sofa to discuss the latest news in the headlines.
But things quickly turned awkward on set as the broadcaster promoted a rival program just moments before Morning Live hit the airwaves.

And it’s fair to say the mix up wasn’t missed by hosts Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones, who were quick to call out the blunder on air.
Before they threw the show over to Morning Live, Jon insisted fans watch a new documentary titled Electric Cars: What They Really Mean For You.
He said: “If you can’t wait until eight o’clock you can watch it right now or at least from quarter past nine when we’ve finished.”
Sally immediately corrected him as she introduced the upcoming show to viewers, stating: “Oh not at quarter past nine, definitely not quarter past nine because at quarter past nine Morning Live is here on BBC One.”
As Gethin welcomed viewers onto the show, he poked fun at the accidental blunder as he told the host he’s “in trouble now”.
The Welsh presenter said: “You're in trouble now, aren’t you Jon?” as Helen joked: “Here's me thinking we’re a big team, that’s how it goes.”
Luckily the pair were able to laugh off the slip up, as Jon chuckled: “I think I saw a clenched fist there Geth, I'm sorry,” which he excused by saying: “Oh no, I'm just doing my hair.”

After the pair introduced what was coming up on their show, Gethin made sure to remind viewers and Jon that they would be taking over the airwaves at 9.15am.
He emphasised: “There’s loads coming up at 9.15 this morning, Jon” to which he promised: “I will be there throughout the entire program” as Sally reassured him: “I'll be checking on him don’t worry.”
