Writing to her 4,000 followers, she penned: “I think it's now actually hitting me that I'm leaving.

“Last day before my BBC address I think gets deleted.

“It was such an amazing day when I got the call to say I was being hired.

“It is a weird feeling to be going but at least can say I tried my best to bring in diverse stories.”

Naga reacted to the next by tweeting: “Good luck my friend.

“You'll be brilliant at whatever you do x.”

Dhruti then replied: “Thank you for always being an inspiration x.”

Dhruti also told her fans how proud she was of her time at the BBC.

She penned: “Also proud as tried to help people feel like they belong whatever their background.

“That's not always easy.

“Really grateful for those who paved the way for young journos like me to have the confidence to apply in the first place so we could spotlight underrepresented stories.

“Wasn't an easy decision to leave and it was a variety of factors that led to the decision.

“But leaving content that I shook things up (even had an exit interview with the DG) and made things better.

“That's all you ever want from a job really. Isn't it?”

Other co-stars rushed to the comments section to wish the journalist luck.

Rajini Vaidyanathan replied: “Good luck! Can't wait to see what comes next.. .it'll be great, that I'm sure x.” (sic)

Ian Sherwood added: “Good luck with the next chapter @dhrutishah.

“It’s a big moment leaving the BBC but I can tell you there’s an amazing life beyond the BBC.
