BBC presenter snaps ‘you can’t say that’ as Glastonbury attendee swears on air

Glastonbury reveller swears live on BBC Breakfast

BBC Breakfast correspondent Colin Paterson was reporting live from outside Glastonbury Festival to get an idea of why people queued so early on but was forced to intervene as an attendee swore live on air.

As Sally Nugent and Jon Kay handed over to Colin, he began: “Good Morning and yeah lots of fans have been descending on Glastonbury from all over the UK.

“What happens in the queue is people who have never met become friends. Rachel and Sam didn’t know each other, what time did you meet?”

Rachel revealed: “About 6pm last night!” before Colin asked: “What’s the best thing you have learnt about Sam?”

Forgetting she was live on national TV, Rachel joked: “She’s a p**shead…” before throwing her hands to her mouth in shock.

Colin exclaimed: “You can’t say that on BBC Breakfast! Oh Rachel!” before he swiftly moved on and asked Sam: “The cleanest thing that you have learnt about Rachel?”

Not making the same mistake as her new friend, Sam explained: “She is a lovely person with a lovely child!”

Thankful for a clean answer, Colin said: “That is the kind of banter I was looking for. For people back home, why on earth do you get here on a Wednesday when the music doesn’t even start on the main stage until Friday?”

Rachel explained: “To get a good camping space and to just meet people!”

Sam added: “You can go onto a beautiful clean campsite and you don’t have to fight for a space.”

Viewers of BBC Breakfast were quick to pick up on Rachel’s mistake, with Twitter user @_sediment laughing: “#bbcbreakfast #Glastonbury Love it!”
