Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk joins The Bear season 2
Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk is trading life as a dodgy lawyer for a chef’s apron by joining The Bear season 2.
The actor, who is most famed for his Breaking Bad character, has been confirmed to be joining the series alongside Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri.
First reported by Variety, currently, there are no details available into what his role may be, or how he’s involved with the struggling Chicago restaurant.
However, thankfully fans won’t have too long to wait, with the show due to return in June.
His new role comes just a year after Odenkirk said goodbye to Better Call Saul – the prequel series to Breaking Bad based on his character.
Season two of The Bear will pick up where the kitchen left off last season, which tracked fine-dining trained chef Carmy (White) battling with the sudden death of his brother and the taking over of his restaurant.
At the end of last season, the business shut down with plans to renovate, after Carmy and the team discovered stashes of cash hidden in tomato tins within the kitchen pantry.
Ready to turn the place over, the local favourite sandwich and sub bar is planning something new, with the effects of what that means to the business playing out over the next season.
However, that’s easier said than done.

Speaking about what comes next, showrunner Christopher Storer teased to Esquire: “In terms of the restaurant changing, it’s not that they’re going to lose all the charm of the restaurant. We’re going to deal with this in season two.
“It’s more like: How can we do this and maybe make some money? And maybe make it easier? And maybe—maybe—start from a place that’s not f**ked?
“Instead of beating a dead horse and making this food that no one even wants to make, I see the promise in my sort of found family in the kitchen.
“Can we use that to build something freshly, now that we’ve all found each other in this stupid a** system where things make no sense and people are putting veal stock on the top shelf of the walk-in?”
Odenkirk’s involvement comes two years after he had a heart attack on the set of the final season of Better Call Saul.
Despite his heart stopping for a staggering 18 minutes, he’s thankfully been able to recover and was able to finish the series, which aired across 2022.
He’s now leading the cast of a new dark comedy, Lucky Hank, leading the cast as disillusioned professor, Hank Devereaux.
The Bear is available on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.
