BGT: Alesha presses golden buzzer for ‘Chicken Shed’
Theatre group Chickenshed consists of a diverse group of young performers, all with a shared passion.
Youngsters from the north London company took to the iconic Britain’s Got Talent stage to share their unique routine which combined dancers, singers, and other performers from the group.
The inclusive company is open to anyone, and a variety of its members appeared on latest episode of the ITV staple hoping to impress the judges.
“Chickenshed is a place for people who didn’t have a place before,” one of the young members explained ahead of the act.
“It’s like we’re all a big family, if someone’s upset, we’ll say, ‘Come on, join us, we’ll have some fun,'” another added.
“Whenever you’re ready, the stage is yours,” Alesha smiled, but she would soon be tearing up as the performance commenced.
Jimmy started the show by rapping about young people and the fears involved with today’s society.
Soon, a crowd of younger performers joined the stage, dancing in the background, singing and lifting each other up as the they all continued to sing Naughty Boy’s and Emeli Sandé’s Wonder.
When the group concluded, an emotional Alesha stood up and slammed the golden buzzer, allowing the act to go straight to the final.

“Ah, it had to be, had to be!” Dec yelled as roar of celebration sounded. “You’re a superstar! An absolute superstar,” Alesha told Cara as she joined the stage.
She later added: “I love every single thing that you stand for and what you represent – inclusivity is so important, everybody feeling represented, and you do that in abundance.
“You’re giving younger people this incredible opportunity and platform and honestly, I don’t know what else is more important than that so it’s my honour to give you a golden buzzer.”
The judges weren’t the only ones wiping tears from their eyes as some tuned in from home admitted they had been left choked up.

@Marabellak stated: “@CHICKENSHED_UK #BGT is not supposed to make this 47-year-old man cry… but here we are. Well done to all, absolutely brilliant,” while @sue_simmonds simply remarked: “Special. #chickenshed #BGT.”
Gabriel, Jimmy and Cara led the act as they took to the stage alone to introduce themselves.
“Chickenshed is so many different things for so many different people, we’re all about if you have a passion for theatre and you love theatre, then you’re welcome,” Cara stated.
“We don’t audition, that’s why there are so many of us and we celebrate our differences and we love that, that’s what makes us us!”
“It’s been going for almost 50 years now, but there’s still so much change to make, it’s about celebrating all young people,” Jimmy commented.
Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
