The ITV drama will be returning to TV screens later this month for its second six-part series. Set in the 1950s, the show follows the story of the Larkin family and their six children in the picturesque countryside of Kent. However, star Bradley Walsh shared details of a new family in the upcoming series which means trouble for Pop and Ma.
The end of The Larkins season one came to a close last year and left viewers thrilled with the romantic ending for Ma and Pop’s eldest daughter Mariette (Sabrina Bartlett).
As there had always been a spark between her and taxman Charley (Tok Stephen), the duo decided to give their relationship a go as fans watched them leave for a new adventure in Paris.
The Larkins family also decided to expand their clan when Ma and Pop revealed that they had decided to adopt a child called Oscar as his mother was struggling to cope.
Although there were happy endings for the characters in the show, star Bradley Walsh teased that things aren’t as smooth in the second series.
A synopsis for season two, which airs on October 16, revealed that along with star Joelle Rae joining the cast as the new Mariette and a new revered, there’s another family being thrown into the mix.
The Jerebohms, which consists of Pinkie (Morgana Robinson) and her sheepish husband played by Julian Rhind are about to head into war with Ma and Pop.
Speaking about the new character in the show, Bradley teased what viewers can expect to see as he called Pinkie Jerebohm manipulative.
Talking to Express.co.uk, along with other publications, he said: “She is very clever, she’s very manipulative.
As actress Morgana admitted that Pinkie has a Cruella Deville quality about her, Bradley completely agreed.
He added: “She’s very, very manipulative indeed and cohesive, I think for a while she totally fools Pop and that’s quite an interesting arch in the story itself.
“At the moment he thinks to himself, ‘Oh she’s very nice and attractive, he’s one for the girls, he loves the girls and they love him.
“He seems to think he’s going to sort of become a confidant or a good friend, so to speak, with Pinkie Jerebohm but that’s not quite the way it goes.
Calling the new character a Femme Fatal, he teased that Pop is falling into a trap that Pinkie is setting to get what she wants from The Larkin family.
Adding to Bradley’s comments on Pinkie, actress Morgana stated that she’s very playful with people, similar to that of a cat and a mouse.
The latest addition said: “She likes to toy, she likes to toy with people, I think she gets off on it, so I think that’s quite fun to watch.
“She’s straight in there teasing everyone and all the villagers, she takes no prisoners that’s for sure.”
Although it’s not just Pinkie who is getting the attention of the locals as new young Reverend Candy (Maxim Ays) sets hearts fluttering, especially Primrose Larkin’s (Lydia Page)
A synopsis for the series reads: “Primrose, now finished with school, is intent on taking the journalistic world by storm, but could it be love with the handsome Reverend Candy (Maxim Ays)?”
“Meanwhile, following the excitement of Mariette (Joelle Ray) and Charley’s (Tok Stephen) wedding, the local gossip quickly turns to the other new arrivals in the village.
“A new out-of-town family, the Jerebohms (Morgana Robinson and Julian Rhind Tutt), have no sooner made their introductions than they are at war with Ma and Pop, with devastating consequences for the Larkin clan.”
The Larkins season two airs on October 16 on ITV.
