Chas ups the stakes as Al gives her a burner phone to arrange sex in Emmerdale

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Al Chapman (Michael Wildman)’s affair on Emmerdale has been on and off so many times that it’s hard to keep track, as Chas struggles with feelings of guilt over Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and feelings of lust over Al in apparently equal measure.

They were recently caught out by Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) after she saw them leaving a hotel and passionately kissing, but obviously this setback has done nothing to deter the torrid twosome, as in upcoming episodes Al hands Chas two burner phones so they can arrange their meetings without worrying about incriminating messages turning up on their own phones.

Will this precaution be enough, though? Having already been spotted by Belle, the cheating couple know that what they’re doing is incredibly risky.

A relationship that started out as purely being about sex seems to be changing as Al and Chas’s feelings for each other have grown more intense. For Chas, it’s partly about her own emotional turmoil as she deals with the knowledge that her mum is dying, but her actions could blow her family apart at the very time they need to be together the most.

It’s a high stakes, dangerous game – and it’s hard to see how there could be any winners.
