On Wednesday’s instalment of Coronation Street, ITV viewers witnessed some harrowing scenes for the residents of Weatherfield from Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) being diagnosed with MND to Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvany) opening up about her rape

However, in the midst of all the heartbreaking scenes, it was serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) who had fans talking.

Although he’s engaged to Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox), after accidentally proposing while under the influence of LSD, Stephen made some flirty exchanges with an unexpected resident.

Throughout the episode, Stephen had some playful banter with Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and it didn’t go unnoticed by Coronation Street viewers.

As Jenny remains unaware Stephen is responsible for the death of her late fiancé Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), fans are warning her to stay away from him, especially after the duo shared an unexpected kiss last year.

Taking to Twitter, MeeshyJay said: “Slimy Stephen eyeing Jenny up.”

Pam_debeauvoir added: “Surely Jenny doesn’t still have the hots for killer Stephen.”

RyanTheSoapking tweeted: “Not Jenny and Stephen flirting.”

Garcon_Marc questioned: “Why is half of the street falling for Stephen?”

xxAlicia89 added: “Stephen is after Jenny.”

Not only did Stephen kill Jenny’s future husband, but he murdered Leo’s father Teddy (Grant Burgin) who grew suspicious of his actions.

However, his killing spree didn’t end there as he claimed his next victim earlier this month after Rufus Donahue (Steven Meo) was blackmailing him for money.

Although viewers are growing concerned for his current fiancé after she insists they reveal their engagement to everybody.

Could Elaine be onto Stephen’s flirting with Jenny? If so, could she be in grave danger if she gets in the way of a budding romance?

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday on ITV at 8pm
