Coronation Street legend dies after 34 years
In sad Coronation Street scenes, it has been revealed that legend Bill Webster has died.
The builder had suffered a heart attack, which was revealed to viewers several weeks ago, leading his children, Debbie and Kevin Webster (Sue Devaney and Michael Le Vell) to fly out to Germany to be with him.
Bill moved to Germany after leaving the show in 2011 with fiancé Pam, shortly after suffering his first heart attack.
His second, more serious heart attack came in 2013, and Kevin flew out to help him in his recovery.
Unfortunately, it was his third heart attack earlier this year that led to his death.
The news was revealed by Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in the café, when he explained to Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) that the sympathy card on the counter was for Kevin and Debbie, following their father’s passing.
Debbie later revealed to Abi (Sally Carman) that Kevin had been by Bill’s bedside when he died, but regretted that she hadn’t stayed longer herself.
She revealed that she would be returning to Germany to help organise the funeral, and asked Abi if she could head inside to gather some photos of her late dad.
After retrieving the photos, she sat alone in the memorial garden, reminiscing. Bill Webster was a Coronation Street legend, having first appeared on he show in 1984.
Throughout his time on the cobbles, he was involved in some major storylines, including money troubles, affairs and fires.
With Kevin and Debbie now left to organise the funeral, will they cope with the loss off their father?
Coronation Street continues Wednesday April 5 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
