Coronation Street spoilers, May 5 2023: Paul walks into Damon's trap
Tonight’s Coronation Street scenes could have consequences for Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
Paul’s bid to blackmail Damon into giving him £25,000 – as he grapples with his motor-neurone disease diagnosis and begins to stress about money – goes awry.
Damon tells Paul he’ll get the cash to keep him quiet about Niall, so Paul heads off with Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and sister Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) to look at wedding dresses.
He gets caught snapping photos of Gemma’s dream dress, hoping the women in the factory can create a cheaper version.
Alas, he gets caught.
And when Paul later goes to meet Damon, he soon finds out that the gangster hasn’t got the cash – and that Niall’s not happy, either.
The duo are out of blood… but Damon has a change of heart, and tells Paul to scarper ASAP.
But will he get away fast enough?
And could this spell bad news for Damon down the road?
Elsewhere, Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne (Jane Danson) are left baffled when Gail (Helen Worth) reveals she hasn’t got an issue with their idea to get a late licence for the Bistro.
Sarah (Tina O’Brien) insisted that mum Gail had said the noise would keep her up all night.
So, they hold a 2pm meeting with the Cobbles’ residents about the idea…
But are soon ambushed with questions about late night noise pollution, and scrabble to get in touch with Damon, who can’t be reached…

David (Jack P. Shepherd) also warns adopted son Max (Paddy Bever) not to get his hopes for an early release from prison, even though it might be a possibility.
Peter (Chris Gascoyne) attempts to book a mini-break for him and Carla (Alison King), though he’s forced to cancel the reservation when she reminds him they can’t leave Ryan (Ryan Prescott).
Ryan, still recovering from the acid attack, feels guilty when he comes across the cancellation documents.
And Stephen (Todd Boyce) winds up irritated after seeing Owen (Ben Hull) flirting with Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8pm on ITV1
