Coronation Street star teases 'comedic' new relationship with Daisy and Tracy
Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) finds herself in a far from ideal position in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when crossed wires between her and Daniel (Rob Mallard) mean that they find themselves homeless – until Ken (William Roache) offers them a roof over their heads at his house – ‘much to Tracy (Kate Ford)’s disgust,’ according to Charlotte Jordan.
‘She’d rather live at No.1 than nowhere but there are so many people living in that house that it does feel overcrowded,’ Charlotte says.
‘They’re basically sleeping in the lounge and as much as she loves her boyfriend she doesn’t want to live with his entire family!’
Charlotte is relishing the chance to work more with the Barlow family, and it looks like we can expect a few fireworks between Daisy and Tracy.
‘I’m super excited because I’ve been waiting for all the Barlow family dinners and to explore the Daisy/Tracy relationship in particular since she got with Daniel,’ Charlotte says. ‘They’re both bold characters and I think they’ll clash. 100% they’re going to clash, I think it could be a very comedic relationship.’
She thinks that the basis for these comic clashes will be how similar Tracy and Daisy are. ‘It’s kind of like looking in the mirror,’ she reckons. ‘I think there are probably many of Tracy’s traits mirrored in Daisy.
‘Daisy does rub people up the wrong way and she wasn’t instantly likeable, but that’s what made me like her,’ she says.
‘I like characters that are frosty on the outside and then it’s about figuring out why they are that way and what makes them tick and how to humanise them, that’s what I enjoy. I’m drawn to the characters you’re not meant to like but I will find a way to make you like her.’
But will Tracy and Daisy ever be friends (assuming Tracy actually understands the concept of friends)?
Charlotte thinks it’s possible, but it’s going to be tricky. ‘It may be they can’t get on for a while but in the end they could find some common ground,’ she says cautiously.
It’s going to be fun finding out, anyway. Does Ken even realise what he could have unleashed?
