Emma hasn’t been gone from Weatherfield for too long as she left for Australia earlier in the year. However, there’d be no doubting Steve (played by Simon Gregson) would be thrilled to have his eldest dughter back on Coronation Street.
During her time on the cobbles, Emma fell for Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) and the pair planned to get married on Christmas Day in 2021.
However, Emma’s hopes of a Christmas wedding were shattered when she learned Curtis had been lying about his heart condition.
She also learned from Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) he had stolen £100,000 from her half-brother Oliver’s fund.
Emma ended the realtionship with Curtis and months later, she decided to go to Australia where her mum Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin) was living.
It’s only been a matter of months since Alexandra left the role of Emma but as she left in the back of a taxi, she could easily make a return.
Appearing on Lorraine on Christmas Day, Alexandra commented on the possibility of heading back to the ITV soap if the storyline was right.
Alexandra began: “I’m really excited. There’s a new show coming out on ITV, The Family Pile, in January.”
Lorraine replied: “Oh it’s great and something so different from Corrie.
“But the thing is, as we know, she’s toddled off to Australia.
“She hasn’t been killed off or anything so she could come back if she wants to. If there’s a good storyline.”
“If she wants to, exactly,” Alexandra added.
Lorraine continued: “And good for you to try something different.”
“Yes and the chracter is very, very different,” Alexandra shared. “I’m excited to see what people think when Gaynor appears.”
Fans can see Alexandra take part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special on Christmas Day.
She is partnered with Kai Widdrington and they will be performing the Quickstep to Sleigh Ride by The Ronettes.
Can she impress the judges enough to lift the special Strictly Silver Star trophy.
Alexandra said of taking part: “Yeah, it’s really fun. We’re a really nice group, which is also lovely and it’s definitely got me more into the Christmas spirit, listening to the Christmas songs every day.”
On why she agreed to sign up, she added: “Oh gosh, well I did actually say a couple of weeks before, completely random to this, that I wanted to do some dance lessons.
“And then this came up and it was like, perfect timing! And also, my mum is a huge fan of the show. She is more excited than me!”
Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special airs Christmas Day on BBC One at 5.10pm.
