Corrie Audrey fate ‘sealed’ – Rita death twist, Stephen murder and holiday exit
Coronation Street’s Audrey Roberts hasn’t been having the easiest time of it recently, ever since her son Stephen Reid turned up on the cobbles again.
After living in Milan and Canada, Stephen has been left penniless and trying everything he can to steal his mum’s money out from under her nose.
But so far, all he’s achieved is getting a delivery job, murdering labourer Leo, and booking his mum and Sam a cruise.

After Elaine seemed to get a little closer to the truth last week, Stephen latched on to her mention of equity in her old house, with plenty of fans thinking he might have already sussed out his next murder victim.
Could Audrey be in the clear? Or is she set for a terrible fate?
Rita death twist
In one theory put forward by Express.co.uk, it seems one of Audrey’s closest pals could be killed off in a huge twist.
Barbara Knox has played Rita since the early days of the soap, and has been a supportive pal to Audrey for decades. But after Audrey’s revelation earlier this year that she was suicidal, a theory now suggests Rita could be killed off first.
Express suggested the loss of a close pal could leave Audrey “without a support system” and turning to overdose once more – especially if she works out Stephen’s nefarious plans.
The publication suggested: “Soap stalwart Rita might end up dying suddenly, leaving Audrey's circle even smaller than before.
“Although every Coronation Street resident would be devastated if Rita died, the tragedy might hit Audrey the hardest because she had only recently opened up to her about what happened.
“Could another upsetting incident leave Audrey feeling as bad as ever?”
Stephen murder
Plenty of fans have been busy with their detective hats on, attempting to work out who Stephen might bump off next.
And Audrey looks to be straight in the firing line.
Taking to social media with their theories, one fan wrote: “I hope vile Stephen doesn’t kill Audrey off #Corrie”.
As another fretted: “Wonder if Stephen will kill Audrey?” and a third said: “That moose-botherer is going to try to kill Audrey and put her in a bin next!”
However, one fan argued on Reddit: “I would think Sue Nicholls has a contract for life like Bill and Barbara and any producer that tried to kill her off before Sue herself said she wished to leave would be sacked.”
As another echoed: “Audrey made it clear she’d written Stephen out of her will so I don’t know how he’d benefit from killing her.”
Suicide cover-up
One theory floating around the Internet is that Stephen could use his mum’s suicide attempt to ‘cover up’ a murder.
One eagle-eyed Reddit user suggested: “He finds out about Audrey trying to take her own life, and he still needs money so he kills her (or tries to) and tries to make it look like suicide."
"Honestly I could see that happening," another person agreed.
Someone else said: "This wouldn’t surprise me. Honestly I thought her suicide attempt was going to Stephen's fault in the first place, I thought he'd been slipping her sleeping pills without telling her."
Death at sea
However, other fans are certain Audrey could meet a watery death without even being in the country as she heads off on a Northern Lights cruise with Sam.
With Stephen desperate to convince his family Audrey is drinking again, it makes sense he could try to muscle his own way onto the cruise using her stolen money – and kill her off somewhere nobody can find the evidence.
One Twitter user wondered: “Is Stephen hoping Audrey's going to be in a bizarre accident on that cruise? Gets attacked by a horde of angry reindeer?”
As someone else said: “#Corrie so either Audrey is gonna kill Stephen or she’s going to die at sea on this cruise. No way he’ll kill her after chickening out of the spiking now.”
