Corries Jane Hazelgrove feeling emotional after family loss away from soap
Coronation Street star Jane Hazelgrove has opened up on her struggles with grief after she tragically lost her father.
The 54-year-old, who is best known for playing Bernie Winter in the ITV soap, has been left emotional as she films the recent terminal illness storyline with her co-star Peter Ash.
In the programme, Peter, who plays Bernie's son Paul Foreman, is dying from Motor Neurone Disease and has been given a limited time left to live.

Talking about the story and her recent loss, Jane told Inside Soap: "I was very upset [when I found out about the storyline] as I adore Peter Ash [who plays Paul Foreman] so I was gutted as this meant he would be going."
"My Corrie family are a tight unit. I’m so lucky to work with them all.
"I lost my dad recently, so I know what this kind of grief is like. It has been very emotional," she explained.
Corrie resident Paul was shocked to discover his deteriorating health as he thought he suffered only a hand injury in a road accident caused by Carla Connor a few months back.
After feeling understandably depressed while heading into financial ruin, Paul recently broke down at his sister Gemma's wedding, where he told her of his illness with their mum Bernie overhearing the conversation.
But with the heartbreaking scenes that lie ahead for Paul, actor Peter previously revealed that he had mixed feelings about leaving the long-running soap.
Talking exclusively to Daily Star and other associated press, Peter said: "I think I was called into the producer Iain’s office late last year.
"He said 'We’ve got this very big storyline for you, it should be a great thing to do. Unfortunately, it does mean an eventual exit'."
Sharing his surprise, he continued: "Yeah, it was a shock, I suppose it’s always a bit scary when you’re called into his office. I had mixed feelings, obviously.
"I mean I'll be sad to leave the show because it's been such an amazing job, I’ve met some fantastic people.
"So yeah, I'll be sad to leave but at the same time, I'm quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline that hopefully will bring awareness to it. It's a double-edged sword."
