Daisy explodes and violently attacks sinister stalker Justin in Corrie
The pressure is mounting for Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street as the stress of being stalked by Justin (Andrew Still) becomes too much and she finally takes things into her own hands – with catastrophic results.
Despite making it clear to Justin that she isn’t interested in him and that she wants the flowers and other things he’s been sending her to stop, things only get worse after he starts to bombard Daisy’s phone with a string of texts. It’s all too much and she breaks down in Daniel (Rob Mallard)’s arms.
Daniel insists that they have to go to the police, and they show PC Scott the texts from Justin. The reaction isn’t what Daisy and Daniel hope for as they play it down and say that Justin hasn’t actually committed a crime.
So when Daisy sees Justin on Victoria Street carrying a bunch of flowers, she sees red. Charlotte Jordan told us that seeing the flowers is ‘very triggering to her because that’s how this whole thing began, with a bunch of flowers.’
Daisy grabs the bouquet from his hands and throws it to the floor. Justin places his hand on her arm, which is a huge moment because, as Charlotte explained, ‘this is the first time Justin has touched Daisy and that’s really crossing yet another line for her. Even though she feels powerless and she’s got no control over the situation she can control who touches her in person. That’s the only thing she feels like she’s got any shred of control over.’
Her reaction is instinctive and violent, as she punches him.
Justin tells her that his mother has just died and the flowers were for her funeral, as he was on his way to see George (Tony Maudsley) – who has witnessed Daisy’s actions – to talk about the arrangements.
This is traumatic enough for Daisy but there’s worse to follow as she’s asked to go to the police station because Justin has accused her of assault.
This only makes Daisy feel more hopeless, as Charlotte explained. ’Even though she’s been to them I think three times by now, the first time Justin’s called about her and all of a sudden they jump into action, even though they know the history and they know what’s been going on. So she just feels totally isolated.’
Coronation Street has been working with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust on this storyline which highlights some of the issues and impact of stalking.
