Dalgliesh is returning to Channel 5 with season two and Dr Edmund Lorrimer’s body is discovered having not returned home from work.
Adam Dalgliesh and DS Kate Miskin are called to Norfolk to investigate and bring the murderer to justice.
Death of an Expert Witness begins with the discovery of a young girl’s body in a remote part of Norfolk.
The post-mortem seems routine enough, but shortly afterwards the forensics lab is shaken by the murder of its senior biologist.

DCI Adam Dalgliesh – Bertie Carvel
Bertie Carvel returns as the solemn detective, who is returning to his home soil for the latest murder.
Bertie is a 45-year-old British actor known for his roles in Matilda the Musical and for playing Rupert Murdoch in Ink.
He is also playing former prime minister Tony Blair in The Crown, and played Nick Clegg in Coalition.
DS Kate Miskin – Carlyss Peer
Dalgliesh’s colleague Kate is determined to prove she has settled in at work and that she has earned her place on the team.
She is played by Carlyss Peer, whose latest credits include Beyond Paradise, The Crown and Doctors.
The star may be recognised for her roles in Passenger List, Viewpoint, The Feed and Silent Witness.
Brenda Pridmore – Alyth Ross
Brenda is played by Alyth Ross, a Scottish actress who has previously starred in Last Light and Traces.
She is already working on two new projects, titled Personal Best and Dirty Angels.
Maximillian Howarth – Sam Hoare
Maximillian is played by Sam Hoare, an actor and director known for playing Dickie Burnell in Bert and Dickie.
The 41-year-old wrote and directed his first film, Having You, in 2013 which aired on Sky Movies.
His other acting credits include The Ex-Wife, Carnival Row, Outlander and Death in Paradise.
Angela Foley – Carolina Main
Angela is played by Carolina Main, an English actress who fans will recognise as DC Fran Lingley in Unforgotten.
She has also starred in Grantchester, Doctors, Temple, Midsomer Murders and Blood.

Dr David Rollinson – Richard Harrington
David is played by Richard Harrington, a 48-year-old Welsh actor known for both his stage and screen roles.
His notable credits include Gangs of London, Endeavour, Consent, Requiem and Poldark.
Nell Rollinson – Lara Cohen
Nell is played by Larah Cohen, who has starred in the short film Regrets and the stage show Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Domenica Howarth – Margaret Clunie
Domenica is played by Margaret Clunie, who is best known for playing Harriet, Duchess of Sutherland in the series Victoria.
She may also be recognised for her roles in Card Postal, Andor and Death in Paradise.
Dr Edmund Lorrimer – Dominic Rowan
Edmund is played by Dominic Rowan, a 51-year-old TV, stage and film actor who played CPS prosecutor Jacob Thorne in Law and Order: UK.
He also starred as Tom Mitford in the Channel 4 drama series North Square.
DC Mercer – Francis Mezza
Mercer is played by Francis Mezza, an Irish actor from Belfast who has starred on TV as well as in film and theatre.
The star’s credits include Derry Girls, Another Day in ’98 and Seacht.
William Rollinson – Ezra Carlisle
William is played by Ezra Carlisle, an eight-year-old actor training at the Shelley Lowry School.
He has also secured a role in Stuck, which airs on BBC Two.
DI Doyle – Stuart Graham
Doyle is played by Stuart Graham, a Northern Irish film and TV actor who is also known for his theatre roles.
The 55-year-old has starred in The Informant, Christopher and His Kind, and A Patch of Fog.
DC Carling – Conor Hinds
Carling is played by Conor Hinds, an Irish actor from Belfast who has worked with a variety of theatre companies.
His screen work includes work for NHK documentaries and Screen Academy of Scotland.
Stella Mawson – Shanaya Rafaat
Stella is played by Shanaya Rafaat, who played Fatima Ali in the TV series, Silk.
Her other credits include Lewis, EastEnders and Doctors.
Clifford Bradley – Perry Millward
Clifford is played by Perry Millward, a 30-year-old actor mostly known for his stage roles.
However, his TV credits include Ashes to Ashes, Casualty and had a minor role in Downton Abbey.
Miss Willard – Deborah Findlay
Miss Willard is played by Deborah Findlay, a 75-year-old stage actress who has a number of TV credits.
She starred in The Last Train, The Armstrong and Miller Show and Silent Witness.
Old Mr Lorrimer – David Hargreaves
David Hargreaves plays old Mr Lorrimer and he is an 83-year-old actor known for his stage and screen roles.
His recent credits include Documentary Now, Flatshare, A Very British Scandal and Flack.
Dalgliesh airs on Channel 5 from April 27 at 9pm
