Dancing With The Stars to return to ABC after fan boycott threat
Len Goodman announces departure from Dancing with the Stars
Dancing With The Stars is believed to be returning to its original network home of ABC after just one season on Disney+.
The celebrity dancing series – the US version of UK’s Strictly Come Dancing – was sent over to streaming service Disney+ for its 31st season in 2022.
However, viewers and fans of the long-running competition were left angry at the move, as they hadn’t signed up to the show.
Thankfully for them, the team has decided to place it back on network television, with the show still streaming live on Disney+ to provide viewers with the option of either.
The next day, the episode will also be available on Hulu.
First reported by Vulture, Dancing With The Stars, ABC and Disney have yet to officially comment on the move.
The move to Disney+ was first implemented in a bid to boost weekly usage of the platform, encouraging a weekly return as streaming services continue to fight back against the binge-watch model.
The upcoming season will see a stark change to what fans are used to, with host Tyra Banks announcing she was leaving the series in March 2023.
It was soon announced Julianne Hough, who started on the show as a professional competitive dancer, will be taking over the reins.

On a sadder note, in April 2023 long-time head judge Len Goodman died after a short illness, just months after he announced he would be retiring to spend more time with his grandchildren.
Derek Hough, Julianne’s brother and current member of the judging panel, has since stated they are not planning on replacing Goodman just yet.
It’s believed he will return alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli for the upcoming season.
“I think this is gonna be it. I think [they are] kind of realizing that three is the right amount,” Derek told US Weekly following Goodman’s retirement.
“And what’s good about three is that it also allows space for guest judges,” he continued.
“We did have Michael Bublé last season, but, like, five judges — that’s a lot. I was like, ‘We’re good.’ I think there’s a lot more flexibility in that.”
Competitors for the upcoming season are yet to be announced.
Dancing With The Stars will return later this year on ABC and Disney+.
