Denise Welch ‘can’t get over’ Camilla was the ‘sidepiece’

Following the royal process, King Charles III acceded to the throne on September 8, 2022, after his mother Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. On May 6 he will be officially crowned as the new monarch during a weekend of celebrations and royal processions. However, during Monday’s Loose Women, Denise Welch launched into a rant about the coronation.

As well as the coronation, a special concert will take place at Windsor Castle and will be aired by the BBC on Sunday, May 7.

Denise was also joined by her Loose Women co-stars Brenda Edwards, Linda Robson, and Jane Moore, who all had differing opinions on the weekend.

Charles has been married to Camilla for 17 years, and she will now be known as Queen Consort after the procession.

However, many royal followers will remember his first marriage to Princess Diana, the mother of his sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

Discussing her opinion of Camilla becoming Queen, Denise blasted: “I feel like a lot of people, the monarchy isn’t the same since the Queen died.

“I’m trying to get some enthusiasm for the coronation and I haven’t got any. I am not particularly a Camilla fan. I just think, and I am not moralising, I’ve had a past.

“But the fact is that I just think she was there from the beginning of his marriage to Diana and I think it is disrespectful to, certainly Prince Harry and William.

“I just do, I can’t get over that she was the sidepiece,” she added before Jane teased: “So we kind of know what camp you’re in.”

Viewers of the show were left annoyed by the comments she made towards Camilla, and took to their Twitter accounts to express their thoughts.

Anna Williams fumed: “Does Denise forget that Saint Diana was also the other woman in other people’s marriages #loosewomen.”

@PGUK78 commented: “Why go to the palace then Denise if you hate them so much. Why? Why the F why? Some people love them. As do I. @loosewomen #loosewomen.” (sic)

Pete Smith penned: “Denise talking absolute c**p again thinking she knows everything that’s gone off in the royal family. #loosewomen.”

Another fan teased: “Imagine Denise’s change of heart if she’d had an invite…#loosewomen.” (sic)

However, not all viewers were against the points that Denise had presented as Gillian Hudson praised: “I actually agree with Denise!! Don’t get me started!! Camilla is not my Queen!#LooseWomen.”

@shirlpuzz added: “Denise Welch speaking truth on Loose Women. I’m shook. The Coronation and Camilla are an abomination to Princess Diana’s memory.

“The side piece has no respect for William and Harry, just like she didn’t for their mother.” (sic)
