Dwayne Johnson Makes Shocking Return in Fast X After Feud With Vin Diesel
The ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ star reportedly has a cameo in the upcoming tenth installment of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise despite being adamant about not returning to the series.
AceShowbiz -“You don’t turn your back on family. Even when they do,” says Dominic Toretto. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson apparently can’t turn his back on his co-stars in the “Fast and Furious” franchise as he has been reported to return for “Fast X” despite his past feud with Vin Diesel.
Breaking the news of the wrestler-turned-actor’s shocking return for the next installment of the franchise is TheWrap. According to the site, the “Moana” star will make a cameo appearance in the post-credits sequence of the upcoming film, which is set to open in U.S. theaters on May 19.
Details of Johnson’s cameo role and how to convince him to return to the franchise are scarce as a spokesperson for Universal Pictures declined to comment. The news comes as a huge surprise for fans of the “Fast and Furious” franchise as the 51-year-old hunk has been adamant about not returning to the series.
Back in November 2021, Diesel extended an olive branch to Johnson following their on-set feud while working on “The Fate of the Furious” in 2016. In an Instagram post, the Dominic Toretto depicter expressed his desire to have his former co-star reprising his role for the franchise’s swan song.
“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10,” he wrote at the time. “Do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
Responding to Diesel’s public plea, Johnson said in an interview with CNN that “there was no chance [he] would return” and that he and Diesel had reached an agreement over the matter in private. He explained, “I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem.”
“Fast X” is billed as one of the last two final films in the franchise. Louis Leterrier serves as director with the script written by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin. Besides Diesel, the likes of Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and John Cena are set to return, with Jason Momoa being cast as the main villain.
