Eagle-eyed Antiques Road Trip presenter makes ‘soaring’ profit with £32 item

An eagle-eyed BBC presenter made a 'soaring' profit at auction with an item that cost her just £32 on Antiques Road Trip.

Izzie Balmer and Ishy Khan were back on TV screens again tonight on the hunt for bargain antiques that could set them apart at Arthur Johnson Auctioneers in Nottingham.

The pair did all their shopping in Yorkshire – with one shiny item making a huge impression on Issie and her piggy bank.

While visiting Donkey's Years Antique Centre, Knaresborough, Izzie found an eagle pocket watch holder priced at £38.

She explained: "You'd hang your pocket watch from this and then you've got this beautiful display for it.

"It's got a signature of L&F Moreau – they were French brothers, early 20th century. They were renowned for their ornate clocks and garnitures."

She suspected that it was made after the brother's time, during the "inter-war years."

The presenter managed to get £6 knocked off the item before taking it to auction – which Ishy said was "an absolute bargain."

Izzie replied: "He's a handsome chap sat atop there."

At the auction, the bidding kicked off at just £20 – leaving Izzie nervous she was going to be out of pocket.

But thankfully, the eagle's profit 'soared' as it quickly climbed to a £90 bid.

"My eagles soaring, it's flying!" Izzie cheered at her £58 profit.

At the end of the show, Izzie Balmer took the lead with £252.14, with Ishy Khan following close behind with £267.78.
