EastEnders airs Lily’s, 12, baby bombshell aftermath as Stacey in new heartache
EastEnders viewers were left floored on Sunday's New Year's Day episode as Stacey Slater learnt that her daughter Lily, 12, is pregnant in a huge twist.
Lily's mum Stacey was stunned when she was told the news by a doctor at hospital, after a carbon monoxide leak at home meant the whole family had to go to hospital to be checked out.
And during Monday's episode, Stacey faced new heartache as she had to speak to detectives and social workers about her daughter's pregnancy with them saying: "When a child as young as Lily finds herself in this situation, our main concern is making sure she's safe."
They added: "We've discussed Lily's circumstances and we've agreed we need to be conducting a Child Protection Investigation alongside a criminal investigation."
Stacey was then grilled about her daughter as she was asked about her recent behaviour, if Lily had any new friendships and whether she monitors her phone to which she said: "No, I trust her!"
Later it was revealed that they wanted to speak to Lily and doctors wanted to do further medical examinations.
Towards the end of the episode, Stacey went to see her daughter as she had to drop the news that she is pregnant in emotional and hard-hitting scenes.
Prior to the bombshell, Lily asked if she was in trouble to which Stacey said: "No darling, no, you're not in trouble. It's just, the doctors did a few tests, and… you're pregnant," adding she would be investigated by the police and social workers.
Lily was left devastated over the news as she started shaking her head and replying: "No, no, no. Mum, please, I don't want to go. Please, mum."
She then asked her mum to not tell anyone as Stacey asked who the father is to which her daughter said: "No, it doesn't matter."
Stacey then asked: "Is it someone new, is it someone you've been messaging or is it someone you met online?
"Lily, you're 12, whoever done this to you shouldn't have gone anywhere near you and I have to make sure he doesn't hurt you again. So please, Lil, please, just tell me who has been abusing you."
To which Lily insisted: "No one, I ain't been abused. You don't understand."
Stacey then said: "I'm just trying to keep you safe" as Lily added: "I am safe!" but refused to say who the father was.
It remains to be seen what is next for Stacey and Lily, and who the father is, but some soap watchers think it could be Ricky Mitchell, also 12.
