EastEnders character dies in huge murder story this week

The following article contains spoilers for this week’s EastEnders episodes, which have NOT yet aired on TV, but can now be viewed on BBC iPlayer in the form of a boxset.

Blood is shed in Walford this week, as one resident meets his demise in shocking scenes.

We are, of course, referring to Ranveer Gulati (Anil Goutam), who – much like fans had predicted – perishes in the wake of a showdown with Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).

There is, however, a major twist in store for audiences.

Suki, as viewers know, was keen to seal the deal and secure Ranveer’s business, but she was taken aback when he made unwanted advances in disturbing scenes last week.

The sick businessman made it clear that he would hand over his business to her, but only if she has sex with him first. Suki played along, unsure of her next move, but she soon devised a plan in order to get the upper hand.

Inviting Ranveer over for dinner, she tells him that she will sleep with him in exchange for his business, but only if he signs the contract first.

Ranveer does his best to change her mind, but Suki is insistent, and ultimately she succeeds in getting what she wants, as he signs the document.

Suki then reveals that she’d been recording Ranveer this whole time, and thus has him on camera blackmailing her for sex.

Ranveer is outraged, and subsequently becomes violent, smacking Suki across the face before pinning her down in horrifying scenes.

Suki reaches for a nearby clock and hits her attacker over the head with it, knocking him unconscious. Ravi (Aaron Thiara), however, stumbles upon the scene, and – believing his dad to be dead – agrees to help Suki hide the body.

Suki is devastated by what has transpired, and upon Ravi’s instruction, she leaves the building to get some fresh air. Ranveer, however, isn’t actually dead at this stage, and upon regaining consciousness, he berats his son for attempting to assist Suki.

After a tense showdown between the father and son duo, Ravi smacks Ranveer with the clock, this time, killing him.

He subsequently gets rid of the body, and even acquires the camera footage, but ultimately refrains from telling Suki that she hadn’t actually murdered Ranveer.

To complicate matters further, Ravi later alters the camera footage, deleting the part where he killed Ranveer.

With EastEnders’ typical broadcast schedule disrupted by sport this summer, the decision was made to allow audiences the opportunity to watch episodes of the BBC One soap online ahead of broadcast.

The soap will continue to drop episodes on iPlayer each and every Monday until mid-August.

These episodes will still air on BBC One and Two later this week. And, whether you’re bingeing or watching on the telly, it’s a week in Walford that’s not to be missed.

This week’s EastEnders is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
