Yolande Trueman slaps Pat Evans on Eastenders

Decades after making her first appearance in BBC soap EastEnders, Angela Wynter is set to return to Walford to reprise her role as Yolande Trueman.

The last time Yolande made a return to Albert Square was in 2017 when she made a surprise comeback.

But before this in 2008, Yolande decided she would be leaving Walford for good and moved to Birmingham, where she has remained for the last 15 years.

And it now looks like she’s coming back down south after it was teased by her on-screen ex-husband Patrick Trueman (played by Rudolph Walker).

In a recent episode, Patrick decided he wanted to track down the love of his life after yearning for her back.

Yolande and Patrick had a loving and happy marriage until Patrick indulged in an ill-advised affair with another EastEnders icon Pat Evans (Pam St Clements).

Patrick has returned to Walford to help Kim and Denise Fox but details of Yolande’s return have been kept under wraps.

Despite this, fans have been left in the dark regarding whether Yolande will stick around and reunite with her ex.

Speaking about her return to EastEnders, Angela said: “Yolande is back in the Square!

“I have been really looking forward to playing her again and have had a beautiful time on set so far.

“I can’t thank the cast and crew enough for the warm welcome back!” she continued.

EastEnders’ Executive Producer, Chris Clenshaw, added: “I’m thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Angela back to the role of Yolande Trueman.

“Although we haven’t seen Yolande for some years, her departure from the Square and the breakdown of her marriage to Walford’s living legend, Patrick, left some unfinished business between the pair.

“We therefore thought it was important to explore a reunion between the two. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back!” he teased.

It didn’t take long for fans to express their excitement at seeing the return of the much-missed star.

Taking to Twitter @mikepriestley13 shared: “I love the fact Yolande Trueman is coming back to #EastEnders Absolutely brilliant.”

Another fan @yasmin_ali10 wrote: “Yes oh my word that’s amazing news, really happy & for Patrick this is yeah man!”

While viewer @BodiesWithout noted: “I hope it’s permanent she was always great man Eastenders is on fire.”
