EastEnders' Jada confesses her role in framing Linda to a stunned Sharon
It’s not often that Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is left at a loss for words in EastEnders, but we guess it’s hard to find the right ones to acknowledge Jada Lennox’s (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) admission that she framed Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
Jada, as viewers know, planted bottles of alcohol in the home she shares with Linda, after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) blackmailed her into doing so.
Janine had recorded a previous conversation between her and Jada, in which Jada agreed to take part in her dastardly plot to destroy Linda, following a showdown that she’d had with the Queen Vic landlady last week.
Linda, however, apologised for what she said, and reinstated Jada in her position in the salon. Jada therefore told Janine she wanted no part of her plot to set Linda up.
This context, naturally, was not on the recording – just Jada agreeing to take part in the crime. Fearing that the audio clip would come back to bite her, Jada did as Janine told her, setting Linda up and calling social services.
Cold.
Tuesday’s (August 31) offering of the BBC One soap dealt with the aftermath of the whole situation, as baby Annie was taken away from Linda.
Jada struggled with the guilt over what has transpired, and even confronted Janine, making it clear that they’d gone too far. Janine, however, was unfazed by the whole thing, and threatened to crush Jada if she opens her mouth.
It was at this very moment that Jada knew that she had done a deal with the devil.
Struggling to keep shtum, she subsequently confessed to Sharon that she’d called social services, rendering the legend speechless.
The question now is: what will Sharon do with this information? Will she tell Linda?
What’s more, will Jada reveal that Linda’s theory is actually correct? That Janine was the one to blame for all of this chaos?
EastEnders continues Wednesday August 31 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
