EastEnders legend killed in whodunnit plot but fans work out victims identity

An EastEnders favourite is set to die in a grisly whodunnit plot.

During Monday's (February 20) special episode to mark the BBC soap's 38th anniversary, the action flashed forward to Christmas for a shocking scene.

In a dark twist that left viewers stunned, a body was seen lying on the floor of the Queen Vic.

Six of the show’s matriarchs, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), were seen looking on in horror.

In a chilling moment, Sharon, who is dressed in a white wedding dress, declared: "He’s dead."

The shocking storyline has sent fans into a frenzy over who dies.

While some were left stumped over who is leaving Walford in a wooden box, others are convinced they've worked out who it is.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "I wonder who killed Nish?!"

Another added: "Is Sharon marrying Keanu? #EastEnders Nish killed surely?"

A third person said: "Nish will get killed."

While a fourth social media user wrote: "Really hope it’s not Nish ngl, would be very predictable."

Before the episode aired, soap boss Chris Clenshaw: "We’re all incredibly excited for Monday’s episode with six of Walford’s leading ladies at the fore.

"What may seem like a regular day in Walford soon takes a twist.

"What transpires for each and every one of them is that in a flash everything changes.

"This episode will leave the audience with a lot of questions and, what may seem like the end, is only just the beginning of some very big storylines that will play out this year."

Elsewhere in the episode, Linda’s world was rocked as she received a photo of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) from Carly Wicks (Kellie Shirley).

An emotional Linda was spotted by Kathy, who tried to console her.

Later on, the pair engaged in conversation about what they’ve both been through in the past.

Also, Sharon and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) met in The Vic and the pair shared a passionate reunion in the bathroom following a chat about their feelings.

A flustered Sharon and Keanu returned to bar and were greeted by sarcastic comments from Denise, leading the other drinkers to realise what they’ve been up to.

Their happiness was soon short-lived when Linda revealed that she has received a counter offer from Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) and Suki for Mick Carter’s half of The Vic.

Enraged by their deceit, Sharon confronted Nish and Suki.

Will it be Nish who is murdered in December and if so, who is responsible for his death?
