EastEnders makes huge announcement as the truth about the Knights is revealed
Ahead of what promises to be a big week, EastEnders has made a change to its typical episode release schedule.
The BBC One soap, which airs four nights a week, has been dropping episodes early on iPlayer since the beginning of the year, allowing audiences the opportunity to watch ahead of the evening airing should they choose to do so.
The decision was a contentious one with fans, with a number of viewers commenting at the time that soaps are at their best when they’re enjoyed simultaneously, allowing twists and storylines to play out on TV first.
In rare instances, when there is a huge twist on the cards, EastEnders opts to withhold select offerings of the serial drama on BBC iPlayer until they air on the telly.
With George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) big secret finally set to be revealed, this will very much be the case this week, with two of the four episodes set to be held back until after their evening airings.
‘Let’s make it a Knight to remember’, an EastEnders spokesperson said of the decision. ‘The truth about George Knight’s family is set to be revealed.
‘To find out what really happened all those years ago, Wednesday and Thursday’s episode of EastEnders will air on BBC One and iPlayer simultaneously at 1930 so that audiences can watch the truth unfold together.’
Consider us very intrigued.
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), as viewers know, has suspicions about George and his role in former wife Rose Knight’s disappearance, and therefore she enlists some help from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), hoping he’ll look into it for her.

Phil takes her advice, getting Callum Highway (Tony Clay) on the case, with the detective discovering something fishy, as George has a clean record but access is denied when it comes to Rose, which Linda reckons is proof that something isn’t quite right.
But just what is George hiding?
EastEnders airs these episodes on Wednesday June 21 and Thursday June 22 at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
