Emmerdale boss teases further secret returns for 50th anniversary
You can’t have a soap anniversary without some familiar faces returning to celebrate, and Emmerdale has already unmasked three comebacks.
Viewers have wishlists when it comes to who they want to see back in the village, and perhaps all hope is not lost.
Metro.co.uk tapped up show bosses Jane Hudson and Kate Brooks to try and find out if we might see anyone else returning.
And listen, they were absolutely not denying it.
‘You’ll just have to wait and see if anyone else is returning,’ Jane told us coyly.
Whoever it might be will be joining Danny Miller as Aaron Dingle, Elizabeth Estensen as Diane Sugden and Amy Walsh as Tracy Metcalfe.
All three will be back on a temporary basis as part of significant storylines.
At the time of the initial announcement, Kate told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have the return of some very familiar faces to the Dales.
‘Diane, Aaron and Tracy will all be making a reappearance, albeit on a temporary basis.
‘They’ll come back and be at the heart of some really big stories that’ll impact their lives and the lives of the characters they leave behind. It’s all really exciting and it’s all brilliant.’
Her colleague Jane also chipped in, with some hints on what we might expect from the characters.
‘Tracy is back with a bit of news of her own – and how’s Nate going to respond to that?’ she teased, making us instantly wonder if there might be a baby involved.
‘And of course Aaron’s back. Is Aaron going to find out his mum’s cheating on Paddy, who he sees as a father?
‘Is he going to discover that Sandra’s not all about Liv? There’s a huge story happening over there.’

At the same time as teasing further returns, Jane divulged further information on what brings Aaron back.
‘Aaron’s brought back initially to see Faith because as we know, she has cancer.
‘When he arrives back, he sees that Sandra is there and suspects that not everything is as it seems.
‘And then of course, his mum’s having an affair – if he finds out about that, it will help him decide whether he sticks around or not.’
