Emmerdale’s iconic Dingle family have had a rough year after the death of Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) and Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) mother Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter). Now the arrival of their long-lost brother Caleb Milligan (William Ash) is set to turn their family over once again. However, fans are convinced that he isn’t really a Dingle family member and has an ulterior motive.
Caleb stormed into the village and has caused a stir over in recent scenes as it was announced he was Cain and Chas’ long-lost sibling.
During the Christmas Day special, Caleb had gone to visit his brother Cain in prison, desperate for answers.
He wanted to find out the truth as to why he had been lied to about their mother Faith.
Caleb explained that Cain told him their mother had passed away over 30 years ago, when in fact she died recently.
Viewers then found out that the pair had fallen out years before after Cain covered for Caleb and had decided to end their relationship there.
Caleb’s arrival on Emmerdale farm has left viewers wondering whether he is telling the truth about his identity, leading them to question his true intentions.
There has been talk amongst the fan community that Caleb isn’t really Cain and Chas’ long-lost sibling and he isn’t a Dingle at all.
Learning of her brother’s arrival, Chas has asked for proof that Caleb is who he says he is, leading fans to take to their Twitter pages to theorise who they think he really is.
Tam O’Driscoll theorised: “Could Caleb be connected to Chloe or her adopted family.”
@andrewstorr5 added: “Could Caleb be ‘Tony’ – Amy and Cloe’s dad, Kerry’s ex-partner? As Chloe and Kerry are currently absent, it would let him get his metaphorical feet under the table before they return and come face-to-face with him. @emmerdale.”
@NicolaG54212315 commented: “@emmerdale anyone else think Caleb is Chloe’s Dad? Seems far too nice.”
Paul Gibbons stated: “Caleb pretending to be nice but it’s pretty obvious he will turn out to be Chloe’s gangster adopted father.”
@AnzWins asked: “Why did Caleb deflect the question from Belle about whether he has family and kids? What is he hiding?”
Show boss and Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw previously teased Caleb’s arrival and said: “Caleb has to undoubtedly be the most unexpected and shocking Christmas gift Cain and Chas have ever received!
“Calm and in control, rich and successful, at first glance Caleb is everything his brother isn’t, but will the pair find they have more in common than they thought?
“What secrets from the past will come back to haunt them and how will the rest of the family react when Caleb strolls into town?
“His arrival certainly promises to shake things up for the Dingles and make 2023 start off with a huge bang!”
Speaking of his new role, Will Ash said: “I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show. Emmerdale is packed full of fantastic actors and I’m really looking forward to working alongside them.
“Caleb is a fantastically complex character and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7:30pm on ITV.
