Emmerdale revelation this Xmas as Cain lied that Faith was dead 30 years ago
Faith (Sally Dexter)’s death rocked the entire village in Emmerdale as the beloved matriarch died in Cain (Jeff Hordley)’s arms in an emotional and unforgettable episode.
Chas (Lucy Pargeter) hasn’t been able to forgive herself for not being by her mother’s side because she was with her lover, Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). And the discovery of this led to Cain taking desperate action as he lured Al to a barn to confront him.
When Cain’s son Kyle (Huey Quinn) walked in on his dad and Al fighting he grabbed the gun that Cain had brought along to frighten Al – and shot him.
Cain is now in prison, determined to take the blame for Al’s death to protect Kyle. And it’s in prison that he gets a very unwelcome visitor on Christmas Day – and it’s someone who has a lot of questions about Faith.
The visitor turns out to be Cain’s brother, Caleb (William Ash) – and he tells Cain he’s surprised to hear that Faith has recently died – because Cain told him she was dead 30 years ago!
He’s understandably hurt and angry that Cain’s lie meant he lost the chance of getting to know Faith over that time and he wants answers. Cain warns him to stay away from his family, but stuck in prison there presumably isn’t much he can do if Caleb decides to head to the village in search of other family members – including his sister, Chas.
But what led Cain to tell Caleb such a massive lie? And why has he hidden Caleb’s very existence from his family for all of these years?
Some of the answers will be revealed in a special flashback episode to be aired on Boxing Day, as the show takes us back to 1991 – and the start of more secrets for Cain.
