Emmerdale fans are currently worried for Liv Flaherty (played by Isobel Steele) as her manipulative mother Sandra Flaherty (Joanne Mitchell) has wormed her way back into her daughter’s life just to try and get her hands on Liv’s money. Liv trusts Sandra and has no idea what her real motives are, but she has already been left isolated from everyone thanks to Sandra’s meddling. Liv’s brother Aaron is set to come back and “save the day” for Liv soon, but talking to Express.co.uk and other press, actor Danny hinted Aaron might meet a more permanent end on the ITV soap.

Talking about his return to the soap for the 50th anniversary, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Danny reflected on how “honoured” he felt to have been asked to come back.

“It’s a short stint, I think it was six and a half weeks,” he detailed.

“It was obviously really attractive because I was off to do other stuff and never did I imagine that [I’d be] going on I’m a Celebrity and stuff and everything that happened there.

“And I never imagined I’d be coming back for any period of time so soon.

“So when they called to say, ‘Would you like to come back for the 50th?’ I was just instantly interested because even though I have been away for a long time and it was a short stint, I knew the storylines, which kind of attracted me to come back and celebrate the 50th with such a big part of my life.

“Emmerdale’s been huge for me and it was an honour that they wanted me to come and say happy birthday, I guess.”

Emphasising his return will be brief, Danny went on to joke that Aaron had narrowly missed being killed off by serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).

He explained how he had been grateful that the door for him to return was left open.

When asked about the writers’ decisions not to kill Aaron off with his first exit, Danny admitted he had been concerned with the timing of his exit.

“Well, I think Aaron’s a lot harder than Meena anyway,” he joked.

“But yeah, I mean, it’s obviously a risk. You know, you can’t just go out there and say, ‘I’m leaving and don’t you dare kill me off’, because you don’t have that say.

“You’re not the boss, by any means. So I was very grateful for the team for sparing me.”

But could Aaron meet a tragic end this time around? It seems he is hoping to smooth things over with Liv because they left things on bad terms.

“For me personally, I think it’s a bond that you can’t really ever lose,” he said while describing Aaron and Liv’s relationship.

“I think it’s you know, they do have the opportunity to make up and being away I think has made him realise that he needs to be there for her and he wants to try and make amends.

“And I think you know, that kind of bond that they’ve got and everything they went through with Gordon and bringing Liv into the village away from Sandra and fighting off Sandra when she came to try and take Liv back with her and stuff…

“You know, it’s the bond that’ll never break really, I think it’s just damaged for a short term.”

When asked how Liv feels about Aaron’s return and him “saving the day”, Isobel explained it would take a little more work for her to fully forgive her brother.

“I think it’s a little bit harder for her than him simply saving the day,” she commented.

“Because she’s struggled over the year. I mean, I know she’s been happily married and she’s working on other relationships but Aaron leaving the village left a massive hole in her life.

“And she’s really had to work to get over that. So to sort of let him back in will take quite a lot of forgiveness and understanding as to why he left – I don’t think she got the answers she wanted before.”

It could be that Aaron returns and opens Liv’s eyes to the reality that Sandra is using her.

He probably helps her to get rid of Sandra and comforts her over her mother’s evil betrayal.

However, despite Aaron thinking he has driven Sandra out of the village, could she be waiting to take her revenge?

Perhaps Liv will accept her brother coming back but won’t be ready to be too close with him straight away, and she may ask him to stay elsewhere for a bit while she thinks things over.

Sandra, who could be lurking by the house, might take the opportunity to follow Aaron.

She might end up killing the Emmerdale favourite. The soap has indicated the 50th anniversary will be explosive, so a murder could be on the cards.

With Aaron only back for a little while, and narrowly escaping evil Meena, it could be that the character has been brought back to make things right before Liv before he makes a permanent exit.

Will Sandra get away with the crime if she does kill Aaron?

It’s likely she will flee soon after, but with her brother back in her life, Liv will soon realise something has happened and might end up putting two and two together.

Emmerdale continues on Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
