Emmerdale’s April actress wants her Corrie star sister to win award amid joint nomination

Emmerdale's April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan has sweetly said she wants her sister Isabella to win the Best Young Performer award at the 2022 Inside Soap Awards after they were both nominated.

Amelia, 13, plays April on Emmerdale while Isabella, 11, stars as Hope Stape in Coronation Street with both characters being part of huge storylines over the past year.

The two sisters also have a famous brother, William, who plays Joseph Brown on Coronation Street.

Amelia's Emmerdale co-star Gabrielle Dowling, who plays Cathy Hope, is also nominated for the Best Young Performer award, as well as Isabella's Corrie co-star Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman.

Talking about the incredible milestone to Inside Soap, Amelia said: "It’s surreal that all three of us have ended up in soaps!

"I’m up against Bella for an award for the first time, and as much as I’d love to win, I really hope my sister gets it!"

Amelia admitted that although she is "Team Emmerdale" and her siblings are "Team Corrie", it is "never competitive".

She sweetly added: "I’ve run lines with Bella where she’s played Hope and I’ve pretended to be a character from Coronation Street, and she’s done the same with me, so it’s fun!"

It comes after Chris Flanagan praised his two daughters, Amelia and Isabella, for their incredible nominations at the 2022 Inside Soap Awards.

Taking to Twitter, proud father Chris praised his two daughters as he revealed he was "really chuffed" over the news.

Sharing a picture of Amelia and Isabella together, he sweetly tweeted: "Really chuffed that the girls and so many of their friends and on screen family are on the long list for the @InsideSoapMag awards. Whether you’re team @itvcorrie or @emmerdale you can cast your votes now via this link!"

Soap fans were quick to praise the two sisters for their amazing achievement with one fan writing: "These girls are such a credit to you and your wife keep up the great work xx."

A different account put: "So much talent in one family."

Another follower wrote: "Awh bless you Amelia and Isabella good luck to the both of you, you are amazing."
