The couple, who have filmed nine series of Escape to the Chateau, wanted to add a winter garden room at the back of the home. Dick Strawbridge began construction with the help of some friends while Angel Adoree was happy to plan the decoration for inside. Howver, when Angel joked she wouldn’t need to pay too much attention to the room, Dick didn’t believe her.
Angel is known for her eye to detail and exquisite decoration around the chateau in France.
So, it was a surprise to Dick when she claimed she wouldn’t decorate the winter garden room.
Showing off the progress of the room, Dick said: “Look here, the sheets of glass go in here.
“There’s a sheet of glass which goes inside each one.
“There’s nothing fixed on three of the walls. There’s nothing to hide wires and things and stuff.”
Angel replied: “This place doesn’t need a lot of decorating.
“It’s not going to need twinkly lights and stuff.”
“Sorry, stop, stop,” Dick said before turning to the workmen. “Did you hear that?
“Rob did you hear that? Can we please write that down somewhere.”
Dick then told his wife “to go” to think about deocration for the winter garden room as he continued with the construction.
Of course Angel was more than happy to oblige as she joked they were building a “flat pack” room.
Escape to the Chateau aired for the final time a couple of weeks ago after they decided to end the series.
However, the couple have confirmed they won’t be off screens for long.
Writing on their Escape to the Chateau blog, a statement read: “For those who have followed their journey, fear not; Channel 4 has commissioned Escape to the Chateau: Secret France due to air in 2023.
“It follows Dick and Angel’s adventures, unlocking the secrets of France and, with the couple’s desire to seek the unexpected and the extraordinary, anything could happen!”
Dick and Angel said of the series ending: “Escape to the Chateau has been our family journey; our decision to buy a Chateau with no water, electricity, heating or sewage has taken us on the adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold.
“The good, the bad and the ugly…we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they’re older.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to support us and we’re looking forward to what the future holds.
“As one Chateau chapter ends, so another Chateau story begins…”
Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on Channel 4OD.
