Evelyn's pain as she says a final goodbye to her beloved Cerberus in Corrie
In heartbreaking Coronation Street scenes, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) was forced to say a final goodbye to beloved pet dog Cerberus, after his tragic death.
Viewers were left devastated when Cerberus had to be put down in a recent episode, after being diagnosed with kidney failure.
Poor Evelyn was in pieces as she learnt that her four legged friend had tucked into an Eccles cake dropped by mobile phone addict Roy Cropper (David Neilson), and called off her friendship with the café owner immediately.
This evening (March 24), Evelyn collected Cerberus’ ashes, and was convinced by Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) to spread them in Victoria Gardens.
Later, the family gathered to say their final goodbyes in an emotional scene.

Of course, Hope was desperate to say a few words. Who can forget the touching poem she so sensitively delivered for dear Cilla the Chinchilla?
After a conversation with Roy earlier in the day, where she learnt the origins of Cerberus’ name and its links to Greek mythology, she delivered a heartfelt speech with the help of sister Ruby (Macy Alabi).
They pointed out that the original Cerberus was a fierce three-headed hound, but their Cerberus was gentle and kind.
Evelyn appeared emotional at their heartfelt speech, but the mood soured when Roy approached.
Despite her anger, Evelyn finally softened, and allowed Roy to stay and show his respects.
With Cerberus in a better place, will Evelyn find it in her heart to forgive Roy?
We’re sure its what Cerberus would have wanted.
