Fox News call Kate Middleton ‘Princess of Whales’ as hosts fail to spot blunder

Fox News presenter Dana Perino had referred to Kate Middleton during a live broadcast on Wednesday, but failed to spot the grammatical error on screen which labelled her the "Princess of Whales".

The error came up while Dana and her co-host Bill Hemer had discussed their 2022 predictions and whether they came to fruition or not.

Dana had predicted that Kate, 40, would fall pregnant with and have her fourth child, which did not happen.

Under the section on the screen which explained what happened in 2022 for Kate instead, the lead text read: "Kate becomes Princess of Whales after Queen Elizabeth’s passing."

The renowned American news channel had mistaken the country of Wales for the aquatic mammal with their spelling, making the error rather important to correct.

Viewers were quick to spot the error, taking to Twitter to share their findings.

One wrote: "Fox News proving general knowledge, calling Kate the Princess of Whales …." with two laughing face emojis.

"Fox New referring to Kate Middleton as the Princess of Whales was not on my bingo card," another laughed.

A third joked: "That's the attention to detail that I look for when choosing a news provider."

However, as stated, Kate had become the Princess of Wales after the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth II earlier this year.

The new King had announced the change in William and Kate's titles, who were previously known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate took on the courtesy title as all wives of the apparent heir to the British throne have done since the 14th century.

The Queen Consort Camilla held this title from 2005 and 2022 but didn't use it publicly because of its popular association with King Charles' first wife, Princess Diana.

Therefore, Camilla was widely known as the Duchess of Cornwall.
