Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls was left red-faced as he confessed people found his surname hilarious when he was in the Cabinet.
The host took up the helm of the ITV morning show alongside Susanna Reid on Tuesday (November 8) amid a discussion of the "bullying" claims against Education Secretary Gavin Williamson.
The MP has been accused of using threatening behaviour as chief Tory party whip – and allegedly told one of his coworkers to "jump out of a window".
The discussion brought up old memories for Ed, who also served as Education Secretary under Labour's government.
He commented: "Can I just say as a former Education Secretary with my surname, you know what it’s like to be on the receiving end."
Not picking up on his seriousness, Susanna cheekily asked: "Did Gavin Williamson use that against you, Ed?"
Picking up the baton, Ed forged ahead: "No, I’m just saying – you know, at football training when the kids laugh at you when your name is said that's okay, but when the parents laugh it's not great…
"If you know what bullying is you're never a bully. And I'm afraid Gavin Williamson there are words said, but you feel he doesn't really know the meaning of the words."
It comes as Susanna was forced to warn Ed to "stop it" amid a discussion about I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! with commentator Andrew Pierce.
Pierce branded Matt Hancock a "d***head" last week on the show, and couldn't resist bringing his swear up again on Tuesday.
Andrew said: "I said something to do with a head, and that's all I'm saying," as Kevin Maguire said "no court" would be able to "convict him of slander".
"Things went a bit dicky," Ed couldn't resist interjecting, as Susanna snapped: "Okay, that's enough! 6.40, still to come…"
